Two points:

1.) Its a two stroke so it needs thrashing.

2.) Its a Honda so you can get away with thrashing it without big bills.

Thrash away! Smile

Ok. You bought a motorcycle. A motorcycle is there to be ridden, not to be grannied around with you worrying about fixing the damn thing when it isn't even broken.

Ride it and ride it hard, its a Honda it will take pretty much any abuse you throw at it. Just use good quality oil and keep on top of maintenance stuff and it will happily do 10,000 miles at 9000 RPM.

I agree, these engines are sat on a block in the factory and tested at full RPM for 100,000 miles at least. they can and will do it no problem.

Should also just mention that it's a good idea to make sure it's not running lean though, or thrashing for a long period could blow a hole in the top of the piston.

I speak from experience... Embarassed
