Hi

Got my new bike today. Another GSXR, although this one is a bit smaller.

A Suzuki GSXR50 / RB50.

I'm sure I remember you being quite a tall fellow, are these small bikes quite comfortable?

Hi

I'm not that tall. About 5'7"~ 5'8", and the YSR is not that uncomfortable for quick blats (an hour or so is fine). The GSXR is smaller and less comfortable, but other than across the garden I haven't ridden it yet.

Needs quite a bit doing to it. Seems to be burning a fair amount of oil and the paintwork is a mess. Tyres are also a bit low (10" wheels).

The baby GSXR beside the YSR.

I've just clicked on what you're doing. You're buying smaller and smaller bikes because your garage is running out of space and the smaller ones fill in the gaps in the corners. Laughing Wink

Designed and built to be road legal (although the GSXR was sold in the USA without instruments / indicators and not for road use). The YSR manages about 50mph, but the GSXR is going to be fair bit slower (it is 4 stroke).

All the best

Hi

Prices are all over the place. I paid £565, but I paid £1200 for the YSR (the YSR was in far better condition when I bought it and had only done 197km from new). Think there was a GSXR50 on Ebay recently in immaculate condition with negligable miles with a buy it now price of £2k. There was an NSR50 at the Stafford show today for £1650.

This one is going to require fair amount of work to bring it to useable condition.

All the best

Keith

Hi

Not many at that kind of price. I have seen YSRs for a bit more, but they were in far worse condition than this RB50.

While this one was about that price it needs some engine work, steering head bearings, fork seals and new tyres, and the fairing is a bit of a mess.

All the best

Keith

Hi

Had more of a look at it today, trying to work out the bits I need.

Fairing lowers are a mess (melted) and it needs new ones, GRP ones available.
Swinging arm spindle is broken Shocked . The head is missing. New one required but not available.
Caps over the end of the swinging arm are missing (6122204702 ).
Forks are pitted and need rechroming.
Front rubber mount for the tank has been bodged. Needs a new one (4451104700 )
Both fuel hoses have perished. Has 2 hoses from the tank to the seperate reserve switch (0934305096 )
Front brake hose clamp missing (5924639100 ). Whole hose looks way too long so a new one is needed.
Brake caliper mounting bolts looks wrong. Probably best to get new ones (0151708307 ).

Front right indicator is a mess. However it looks like the rears on my 1200 Bandit (but with bullet connectors rather than a proper block connector).

Will probably add more parts to this post as I find what is wrecked.

All the best

Keith
