Gaming issues, my 2nd Xbox

I got rid of my xbox in 2007, id never been without a console since i was born.... i didn't have a console for a year so ive just bought another because i miss gaming.
Im going to get some more games when im paid but for the mean time im playing what came with it.

Gears of war, heard a lot about it, im on the first chapter and im kinda frustrated as it seems clumsy and not overly satisfying. Am i putting it down too early or is this an over rated shooter?? Ive got GOW1 and 2 so ive started with the first, shall i give this some more playing time?

The other game i can't really get into is The Darkness. Great idea for a game but im finding after playing Fallout 3 this seems a little amatuer. Run around capping guys left right and centre, then watching some slick FMV and sometimes going into areas where you can't shoot as there are innocent people. Again, only really on the first couple of levels, i found the game a little awkward at first but when i got into it killing is fun, but i dont see the aim of what im doing. Does this get better?

Fallout 3, brilliant game, but i hate talking about it as it always bloody crashes!

Fight night 3, awesome game, never gets old really. I enjoy that one.

I like shooters, action etc...so what should i buy when im paid?

Godfather 2 kept me busy for a few days.

The Darkness is one of the best games I've played on Xbox, kept me hooked for some reason.

I thought he Darkness was quality - it is a little "dated" now however.

Not a massive GOW fan myself - got 'em , played 'em , flogged 'em - meh !

If you like Fallout 3 you should really enjoy Mass Effect - one of my favourite 360 /pc games ever - just like F3 but sci fi .

Left 4 Dead has been my favourite game for both solo and multiplay since November - it's brilliant !

Dead space is also good and 10x better than Resident Evil , Burnout Paradise is quality online and solo play , obviously GTAIV + L&D is good and again if you like Fallout - give Oblivion a try .

There are also 2 DLC packages available for Fallout 3 - Operation Anchorage ( 4 hours long ) and The Pitt ( 7 hours long ) both costing 800 points .

I really didnt like Mass Effect at all, I only played it for about an hour and got rid of it. Just not my type of game at all.

As for the original 'Gears' it was released in 2006 so is going to be slightly behind the times. Nevertheless you shouldnt let that put you off as its probably one of the best games ever in my opinion and Ive played it through many many times. It was also still very popular up until the release of GOW2 and was certainly the oldest game any of us were still playing.

COD 4 is fantastic but if you are planning on playing COD5 then I'd reccomend getting that first, that way COD5 won't be such a disappointment after playing 4. Im still playing 4 online all this time later.

The darkness is good, give it more time. Its just not one of those games you would go back to after playing it through.

Ok, maybe the darkness is a grower, i just see it as a little basic in the gameplay and seem to be killing guys in the street with no apparent reason or skill...just blam blam blam. lol...ill keep on it.

Yeah gonna get GTA for online play and COD4.

Played a lot of the Darkness at the weekend as im broke.
Its quite a satisfying game once you get into it, i'm now on the last couple of levels i think, zombie Nazi's are always fun to kill.lol
Some impressive graphics too, i think the only thing lacking is the interaction with objects, its a bit basic and very linier.
Once this is done im moving on to the GOW games.

Fable II is a great game I think!

Definite longetivity in it and its fun as hell running round disintegrating pirates with a huge 50ft wide spell.

Plus you can have many wives, children, houses, businesses etc.

Storyline is a little short but you have good and evil sides so play again as an evil mothercufker.

COD5 is way better than 4, 4 is way too linear and open, map style is better in 5 and having older weapons brings more play styles to it.

Saints row 2 is a great game if you want gta style gameplay but more fun and doesn't take itself too seriously. decent length story and stacks of side missions plus the multiplayer is a laugh with the way you can do any mission from single player with a mate.

What about Bioshock? Only played it for a short period before i sold the 360 but from what i played, it was a solid game.

Survival mode is now out for Left 4 Dead and it's awesome - our highest time is 12:53 if anyone wants to try and beat it - could've been longer but someone got smokered and the rest of us tried to help - it didn't end well

Also the other 2 campaigns are avilable for versus mode now

Best game out - get it !

Gave it a while and got rid. Didnt like it as it was heavily weighted towards the players with more XP, it was jerky online and it didnt have anywhere near the flow of COD4.

As for your 'gay' comment, Im not sure what to say. I am aware you can get extra camouflage for weapons but whats your point and why would you rather those people stay away? Is it lonely up there in your tower?

edit: You mean you get better guns and perks at a higher level? Yes that is the whole point of the multiplayer version of COD to play the game to get better weapons and perks...

edit2: my opinion is that playing the game for another matter of hours purely to gain a red or blue colour camoflauge is a little bit sad, as if playing it is not already of course, just hardly something one can look forward to after his lifelong achievement.

Rainbow six vegas 2 is pretty damn epic if you like FPS games, i was hoping it would be a bit more tactical but it's still a decent game and online is quite good.

Just bought Tom Clancy's Endwar as well which is an RTS, truly epic. Reminds me a lot of the old C&C games, you can upgrade your units and the online has a real time WW3 on-going campaign although it's hard to win . A long storyline as well with a good variety of missions, reccomend it highly.
