Any of you been there recently?

I've had a look on the website and it looks good but just want to know any opinions on it, I've been to Drayton Manor and Alton Towers way too many times so want to try somewhere new.

Cheers Karma

I went a couple of years back. Its pretty good.
Not tried the new Saw Ride yet though.

What is that Drayton Manor like? It looks brilliant on the TV adverts.

Yeh the Saw ride does look good.

Drayton Manor is OK but there just isn't enough big rides there, but is a good day out if you have never been there before.

Drayton Manor is ok, being going there for god knows how long. Thing is if you go on a quiet day you can get round all the main rides in like an hour and a half if that, which isn't a bad thing in terms of how many times you can go on the rides, but just kinda feels like there isnt enough there....

On the plus side they've got a zoo aswell, which is always cool to walk round with the missus Thumbs Up

I'm going thorpe park next month (plus Burger King are offering 2 for 1 tickets at the mo as a heads up!) so shall give my reviews then!

Not been for the last few years, but used to have a season pass and spent a few days each month there.

Thorpe park has come on leaps and bounds since they decided to move all the big rides there, and make Chessington a park for younger kids.

I've not been on Saw or Stealth, but I've done everything else more times that I can remember! Very good day out, Like people have said it can get real busy, but it's the same with any big theme park. If your able to go mid week the place will be empty at this time of year.

The main thing to remember is that if you go on Tidal Wave you will get soaked through to the skin. Don't do it just before you leave the park, it'll take you ages to dry off!

X:/ no way out is getting a bit old now. Backwards rollercoaster in the dark.

Nemesis & colossus are both pretty good coasters.

Detanator is just a high drop ride, takes you up 200 foot or so then drops you back down. It's the only ride that messes my guts up!

Slammer is good, big high spinning type ride

You've got samari which was moved from Chessington when they made chessington for kids. Still a great ride and it really throws you about.

Rush - It's a big swing

Most of the other rides seem to be stuff you'd find at a fair, but still worth a go.

Went last Thursday for a friend’s 23rd, had a really good day. Because it was term time the cues were short most rides were a 15 minute waiting time max, apart from Saw which was an hour!

The rides I would recommend are; Colossus, Nemesis Inferno, Stealth, Samurai (Was closed, but rode it at Chessington), and SAW.

I was a bit disappointed with SAW, mainly because we had to cue so long compared with the other rides, so I had quite a bit of anticipation and was expecting it to be out of this world. It was actually not much better then Colossus or Nemesis, but still a great ride.

My favourite ride was Stealth, it is the shortest, but I found it gave me the biggest rush!

I also found when on the roller coasters that if you keep your eyes on the track ahead you get allot less of a buzz because you know what is about to happen and you brace yourself correctly. If you don’t bother looking ahead on the track every corner is a surprise and the ride is allot more bumpy and unexpected.

According to my friend Alton Towers kicks Thorp Park’s arse!

Found this ride really funny, we all got of going "You will never believe what just happened... We lost all manual control!"

Alton Towers is falling behind Thorpe Park now IMO.

No new decent rides for quite a few years now, it seems they just cannot get the planning permission for very much there.

Thorpe Park on the other hand has had two new rollercoasters in 2 years, development is pretty much ongoing.

I last went to TP last year and loved it, Stealth scared the shite out me, due to my vertigo but I still loved it! Gonna make another trip down in June time I think. Thumbs Up Smile

I went to thorpe park last monday, didnt bother with saw as the queue was over 3 hours long, been on all the other rides plenty of times and still think that stealth is the best, by far.

Just to give you a clue, a very fast standard bike might hit 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, just. Stealth does 0-80mph in 2.8 seconds before shooting you verticle ~200 feet and then slowly going over the top and falling back down the other side, its the biggest and best rush ive ever gotten from a ride, never been to the US so cant comment on rides on the other side of the pond but it IMO it kicks the ass of every other UK ride.

If its sunny i'd advise making tidal wave one of your first stops, if its not sunny i wouldnt bother, seriously you wont dry out for a long time, its still good for a giggle though Thumbs Up

I went to Thorpe park recently. Also went on Saw.

I liked Saw, it was good, but certainly not the best. I agree with c-dug. Think Stealth is the best.

Although me and my friends enjoyed the log flume and "pouting" for the photo Laughing

I went today as it happens...

Was expecting a quiet day with it being term time and rubbish weather (rained all day) but I was wrong... the place was packed. Went on every big ride apart from the Saw ride because the waiting time was about 1hour 30mins. My girlfriend had been on it before and said it wasn't that great anyway.

Had a rather weird experience today. Went on a ride called 'Slammer' which looks like this:

https://s.bebo.com/app-image/8119202071/5411656627/PROFILE/i.quizzaz.com/img/q/u/08/05/26/june19thorpe17.jpg

Half way through the ride it comes to a halt, upside down, really high in the air. An announcement is made over the tanoy saying there is a technical fault with the ride and engineers were on their way. Whilst this was going on there tried to put us the right way up but because something was broken it took ages (about 10mins). Eventually, after about 15mins we were back down on the ground! Credit goes to the staff though, they tried not to panic people and were apologetic about the whole situation. We were all given a free fast track ticket to one of the other rides and also a drinks voucher.

There is a good selection of rides, it's easy to get to and if you use the vouchers etc it can be a cheap day out!
