Just completed CBT!

Hi everyone

Just thought i'd let everyone know im a learner biker now!
just did the training yesterday and really enjoyed it having never even sat on a motorbike before,

Before i had done my CBT (125 Geared) i was thinking about doing the DAS but im actually still a bit nervous being on a bike is that normal?

So im thinking doing the a2? Restricted license would suit me better and give me a bit more experience on a smaller bike.

get a 125, and with a couple of months experience under your belt you'll want to get your full licence done.

a2 is a waste of time if you're over 21 imo.

nothing to be nervous about either, its natural if you've not been on a bike before but you pretty soon get used to it.

Thats what i was thinking get a little cg125 something cheap and just ride around for a bit ,

I was just thinking even though im 22 im in no rush for a big bike and im sure 33.3bhp ain't that slow is it?

Yeah i guess, im just used to being a cager Laughing there just seems to be so much to concentrate on when your on a bike but it really is a good feeling not having anything around you when your on the bike.

But looks like i'll be on the hunt for a 125 and see if my confidence improves.

When I first started riding I practically had palpitations while getting ready to go on the bike, but you get used to it.
Quite miss the thrill actually, you only ever get it again when you get a new bike.

No, it's not that slow, but what if you see a bike that really gets you moist - you're either going to have to restrict it, ride outside the terms of your licence or go without it. You've got a ready made restrictor attached to the end of your right arm.

33bhp isnt slow at all budy, my gsxr gets upto 60 very quick and will do about 100 Thumbs Up

Seems like a can of worms with this one!


The Shaggy D.A. there are loads of bike that i would love to have i have a list as long as my arm and even then it keeps growing! I can see your point though but at this stage i just can't see my self on a big bike without falling off!

Doing the CBT yesterday on a CG125 i still struggled to touch the floor ( im 5'6) and im guessing i'll have a harder time on a bigger bike?

But thanks for the response guys it gives me a lot to think about but im definately going to try and get a little run around to boost my confidence and then decide what to do.

I try not to fall off any bikes, even the little ones Smile

There's nothing wrong with wanting to limit yourself in the early days until your confidence increases, but you may be pleasantly surprised and find in (say) 6 months you're itching for something with a bit more go. I've only ever ridden one restricted bike (an XV535) and it wouldn't go above 65mph - pointless if you intend to go anywhere near a motorway.
