hello there,

im looking for an enduro bike to have some fun on through the summer!

problem is im 5 foot 5 and on a restricted license!

im looking for an enduro bike with a bit of power so that its fun, that i can fit on ( used to ride kdx 200 when i was 14 but im not much taller now!) and preferably up to a grand! i know im not going to get a very pretty bike for that much but looks arnt really important. also never owning an enduro bike to ride on the road what are they like for going long ride outs in terms of comfort and speed?

i always used to do motorcross when i was a kid and would like to get back into it so i would like something capable on the dirt too. does the xt 350 fit the bill?

sorry for all the questions but i have little money and dont want to buy a bike thats going to be no good.

thanks for any help

Yamaha XT225 Serow, cracking bike, low seat height too, lots of grab handles for pulling it out of ditches in any direction.

Gas Gas Pampera is a good choice for the shorter and is lighter than the 4 strokes generally.
With a bit of confidence, it shouldn't be a big problem however; Ady Smith can't have been much bigger than that and riding an enduro bike is basically his job Smile.

what are the top speeds like on such bikes? i saw an xt 250 for sale recently but was put off by the fact that they have only 22bhp and are only capable of 70 mph. i was hoping to commute to work (around 20 miles) on it occasionally and this dosent sound like much fun!. Theres a nice klx 300 on ebay at the moment (See link) which seems to fit into my price braket whats the height like on this?

G- the gas gas looks like its the bike for me, is the maintanence hardcore on machines like that? i dont know alot about gas gas bikes but always imagined them to be specialist machines requiring alot of maintanence.

Even on the 'proper' enduro bikes it's not that bad and if anything does go wrong it's easy to fix.
The Pamp' makes under half the power of a 'serious' 250cc enduro bike, so it's even less harsh.

You can get lowering links to put in the rear suspension to make the bike lower, you can also drop the front yoke down the forks to lower the front.

I've got a ttr250 with a lowering link. Its the successor to the serow.

I'm about 5ft 7 and its comfy for me, my mate had one without a lowering link, and it was a little high, but still managable.

If you are coming from motocross, you might prefer something that is more of enduro bike like what G is suggesting.

I'm not sure I think of the serow and ttr250 as enduro bikes, more trail bikes to me. To me this means that enduro bikes are a bit more in the direction of motocross bikes, while the trail bikes are a bit more in the direction of road bikes.
