It's not bothered me until now, But the weather is getting warmer, And I've started cornering the pit bike alot faster recently.

My tyres are ripping quite bad on both sides, And both front and rear.

I am running 28PSI front and rear, And have quite a stiff suspension set up.
The tyres are Bridgestone Hoops, B01 front and B02 rear, Quite soft tyres, But wouldn't of thought they'd rip like they are.

Not fussed about the cost of replacement, It's fitting a new rear which is a ballache of a job. And I have a proper machine at work.

And looking at the wear on them today, I cant see them lasting too long. Laughing

Is the ripping just down to a bad set up of pressure and suspension stiffness. Is it that the tyres are just too soft?

Is there anything I can do to stop it, Or at least prevent it a bit?

How old are these set of tyres and have you tried contacting Bridgestone's helpdesk / tyre dealership for their opinion to see if there is a known problem with that model & age of tyre they made?

Personally, I haven't seen that on Bridgestone tyres and I'ves used BT-45, BT-21 and BT-16s. Maybe if the tyres are just old, but it looks like the rubber is breaking apart rather than being grinded/rubbed down by the road surface.

DOT codes are both 08. So pretty much brand new.
Not contacted Bridgestone yet though.

I was just wondering if maybe the suspension is too soft / hard, Or tyre pressure too low?

Would imagine that the ripping/tearing (or whatever you wanna call it Laughing ) will ease off once the tyre's have a more suitable shaped profile. Ie. would say a more rounder shaped tyre wouldn't do that as much.

Edit: just noticed in general pics that the tyres do look quite round already though Confused .

Hmmm, perhaps they were just a bit cold? Laughing

Check the bridgstone site. It gives you the correct pressures for your tyre's. Often this is diffrent to your handbook pressures.

Usually suspension too hard will tear up the tyres but I suspect you're sliding them too which will surely tear the edges.

Presumably they're designed for a scooter with squishy suspension and a 4hp motor driving through a CVT. All very gentle.

What you're using them on is a 16hp pitbike with a vaguely conventional transmission and hard suspension.

So they get more load, faster, which can rip a soft tyre.
