I feel so unlucky. Last week I crashed my bike, wrote it off and ended in crutches. Now yesterday my girlfriend has dumped me cos shes has just decided she wants to be single and doesnt want to be in a relationship Crying or Very sad

I just feel so depressed at the moment, really down. My mates are there for me, but I can't cope. At some times i'll be fine, other times, like last night, I just broke down and just felt inconsolable. Im only upset really with the split, we were together for 6 months, which aint long, but had proper strong feelings for her. Now she just wants friendship. Need cheering up Sad

awwww... *hugs* Mike
I'm an eternal optimist so what I'd say is that you now have tomorrow to look forward to coz the only way from here is up.
The best way I find to cheer myself up is to plan something a week or more in the future, that way you've got something to focus on and look forward to - maybe plan a party for your mates to thank them for being there for you?
Keep your chin up - you'll read back on this soon and wonder what you were worrying about!

sorry this aint going to help much but sorry to hear that mate...and why is it that girls that brush ya off always seem to think its ok to just be friends....when you clearly like them in a way more than friendship...

I think i can say i know roughlky what ya feel like and it dont get much better im afraid...but look at it this way....she wasnt the one for you and there is someone better out there for ya...(not much help now but when you get over the initial pain it might be)

Again, my consolations,

Andy

Shitter Sad

Best thing to do is to go out as much as possible with your mates. Sitting at home just thinking about things on your own only makes it worse.

Hope it all sorts itself out Thumbs Up Things normally do...

[Agony Uncle Mode On]After breaking up with someone that you care for these feelings are understandable. You tend to get times when you are busy and it will take your mind off it, but you get times when things are slower and you sit and dwell on it.

The best thing is to keep yourself as busy as you can, the weekend's coming up, arrange a lads night out and get out there and see whats around. I'm not suggesting you go running after anything that moves, but it's good to realise that the world hasn't stopped because you're together.

With this and the accident you are obviously at a low point, things will improve with time and you have to think to yourself that things can only get better. Not only back to normal but better than before, eventually you will find someone out there that feels as strongly about you as you do about them.

As far as being "friends" goes, unless you share friends and need to keep a good relationship then don't. I don't mean turn nasty of make things sour, I mean that you will see her out and about more often and it will make things more difficult to handle. Perhaps when things have settled down and you have sorted your head out it might work.[Agony Uncle Mode Off]

Good luck mate and keep your pecker up! Penny Coin Penny Coin

Oh that's so cowardly! I wouldn't meet her if I were you, tell her you have other plans even if you don't. Make her wait til you're ready.

Oh, and something I meant to put on the other post - 'That which does not kill us makes us stronger'

Steady on DF! Razz Laughing
But on a serious note mate, these guys are telling you some good info on what you won't be able to see at the mo, but things will get better, it's that never ending balance between pleasure and pain - a bit like those Muller rice adverts Laughing

Chin up lad! Thumbs Up

Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

Regarding the crutches ... hope it is not too serious and for the bike, as other have already said, you'll soon get another one with the insurance money.

Girlfriend wise ... that is life ... it is said but if you were not suited better now after 6 months than much further in the future.

I agree with dainesefreak ... unless you have common friends or you were really good mates before ... don't go there! It just makes it really hard and really threre is not point in being freinds if you really want more!

I wouln't meet up tonight ... too soon ... also don't go back. Learnt by looking at many of my friends which have gone back ... it harldy ever works out. Somehow incompatibily and problems are never solved and things in the long term don;t work out!

Go out with your mates ... get distructed and try to enjoy the long weekend!

Cheer up Thumbs Up

Mazza (assuming she's a she!) wasn't your Girlfriend was she mate? Completely Heartless Rolling Eyes

Happens to everyone unfortunately Pal - Keep smiling and sooner or later you'll look back on this and wonder how and why it affected you this much. Bit of a cliche but true nonetheless Thumbs Up

Yep, been there done that. It's really not a nice feeling and to make things worse no matter where you look for comfort it won't make you feel better. I know that's a negative way to look at things, but it's your own heart (chemically your head) that has to learn to accept what's happened.

It's hard to come to terms with the fact that even though you've worn your heart on your shoulder and felt something extremely intense for another person they might not feel the same way. Just accepting that can be the hardest part. It sucks like pig feces, but slowly after going through the three stages of hysterics, depression and anger you'll see that your inner strength will grow to help you get over it (I really hated hearing that when I was feeling down. I kept saying 'Yes that may happen, but I couldn't give a dogs arse about later. I feel like crap NOW!'). All I can say to you is hang in there. I know first hand that nothing anyone says will truly make you feel better.

The first real time I ever had my heart broken, the only thing that kept me going was someone close to me saying that maybe in the future if our paths were meant to be we'd end up together again. Funnily enough the effer did come running back Laughing, but by then I was already with Zimma and told him to go suck a lemon.

That's the most insensitive piece of crap I've heard. I'm sorry to say this, but who are you to judge someone elses feelings? Each person is individual, each person feels different things and each person handles it in a different way. He posted that for support, not so you could trample on him. If you can't understand that and are just going to flame someone for it, then don't bother commenting.

So did I, but to make matters worse he was sat right next to me. I'm sure if he ever got the chance to read this he'd laugh at himself. It was the most pathetic thing ever. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Look on the bright side Mike, you can get your bike fixed now and do whatever the hell you like, whenever the hell you like.

And chicks dig bikes! Cool Wink Know it's hard mate, been there, done it, got the t-shirt, sold the movie rights.

Best thing to do is not get too down about it and enjoy life for yourself. If you are seen by people to be doing that you might just catch the eye of another lady and she will like what she sees. People like to see happy, warm people. They're attractive.

And when you get another girsl on the back of the bike you can enjoy everything you like together. Thumbs Up

Sorry to hear that you're feeling down, I hope things improve for you. Although I hate to quote Ronan Keating - Life is a rollercoaster and you've just got to ride it. Sorry, we have a bit of a joke about that saying at work because this guy actually used it as a chat up line (it didn't work - surprise!)

Anyway, I crashed my car 2 hours ago and am still shaking from it, so hopefully that will make you feel less alone in your unhappiness! I've lost my no claims, my insurance will go up by 40%, and I have got to pay £375 excess. The worst thing is that it was all my fault and I'm scared to get back in a car. Hey ho, like someone said, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. You're alive and have lots to look forward to. Although you may not see it now, you'll look back at this time and be glad it happened. Life is just one big learning curve.

Chin up Thumbs Up

thanks for all your support guys, you may not yet realise it, but your choice words do help! When I get a new bike, we'll have to all meet up so I can thank you... make it at a pub and it'll be one expensive round for me!!

With everything like this... as suzi mentioned, it's not just logic etc, but chemistry. Give it some time, get out and get pissed with your mates or whatever.

I could go through some of the shit I've been through....
For a start I've written off two cars and two bikes, ended up with two friends in Hospital and am getting prosecuted by the police for something I didn't know about on the vehicle.
I won't even go into the 'love life' side... now /that/ is depressing Neutral.

Doesn't make it any better for you... probably nowt will initially, but there's plenty of people worse off than us out there... you could live in Iraq and have had the rest of your family killed by an american bomb.
I presume you're still fairly young... there will be more bikes and however it may not seem right yet, more girlfriends. (and if she felt like this about you, at least it happened now, rather than anohter 6 months down the line when it'd be even worse.)

sorry to hear you're feeling down Mike.. things always happen in clumps don't they? It's never just one depressing thing at a time. Sad

I agree with those who say the best thing you can do is organise other things to occupy yourself with. Not doing anything means you'll end up going over and over things in your head which won't help at all! I can't believe she dumped you by email, that is pretty bad. I definitely wouldn't meet up with her until *you* are ready to - if she still wants to be good friends then ditching you by email seems an odd way to start Confused I'd give it a week or so at least, let things settle. Maybe after your trip to Swansea with friends?

G is right, better this happened now than in another 6 months if she doesn't feel the same way that you do.

How about doing some browsing for a new bike as well? That can be a fun way to spend some time!
