Hi Smile

Im Tom, im only 15. I would like to get into trackdays, my dad and brother have bikes, and do trackdays.

I am booked into the ron haslam race school Very Happy

Does anyone know of any tracks in the UK, preferably close to leicestershire, that offer a service for a 15 year old to do trackdays?

If they require a racing license, is this easy to get?

Thanks Smile

You'll have to do an ACU license and sit through a course in Rugby.
As you're 15 you'll have to be able to prove you can ride a bike - I think there are combined ACU courses - dunno, because when I got mine I already had a full license. Your Ron Haslam race school will count for this.

Once you've got your ACU license you are free to ride on track. Mallory Park is LE9 7QE.

What will you be riding?

cool, a zx6r at 15, im jealous, dont get too excited on track and try and overtake everyone at once, crashing is expensive. build up your confidence and speed and you'll never look back. Road riding is shit compared to the track and hell of alot safer too.

just wish I started at your age. Confused

Any.

ACU is piss. Turn up, sit in a room for 4 hours, then a 20 question multiple choice test thing, which is pretty basic, and they run through it with you at the end.

No worries.

And @ Deano, me too. Sad

Oki Doki

My dad didnt think we could ride on any track, as when he rang no limits up, they said that you had to be 16.

Hottrax let you out at 14 with an ACU license. Thumbs Up

You can also do Mallory Park test days. They run every Wednesday. £50 for an afternoon IIRC.(The morning is for cars). But that's on a bike prepped to ACU regs.(Lockwired oil system, catchpan, pure water in the cooling system).

you cant race or do a trackday on a 600 even with an acu licence as you cant ride on acu licence until your 16.
you can have a licence for 125 and mini twins.

to get on a track (any other than brands hatch leisure) would be at the officials discretion.

oops, seems I've made a mistake in that.

The 2009 ACU handbook states that at 15 on a novice license you can ride a 125 GP machine or 250 4 stroke single cylinder machine.

Embarassed

Apologies, I'll get it changed. Thumbs Up

well the rules prob will have changed since big ham put that up, things change each year.

at one time it was a quick visit to the doc for a medical, £40, and you had a licence! but no one seemed to start under the age of 17 back then Laughing

i think the only thing that has stayed the same is the length of time you stay as a novice, 10 signatures for completing races and at 3 diff tracks.
