Take the test. An eye opener. Follow it all the way through.

Some will bullshit, but I failed it and many others will do too.

Yeah, I counted the correct number of points too Thumbs Up but was also told I missed 8 questions I thought WTF ... there weren't that many questions asked ... I couldn't have missed 8!! .... so I ran it again just listening for questions and ignoring the action ... there were only 8 questions!! Very Happy

Long story short, you need to hit the space bar at an exact/specific time after the question has been asked ... you/your man will respond verbally if you have got the timing right. Even if you hit the spacebar after a question, if it was not at the exact time/window expected, you man will not say anything and it will be a 'missed' question.

So I'm not sure how many questions I REALLY missed on the first pass, I'm good at ignoring women's inane chatter too, but it wasn't all 8 that's for sure, even if I was just to say 'yes dear' at random points I would have fluked a few responses!! Laughing

Do you know what? It's nothing to do with the fact that someone is chatting on a mobile, it is that trying to remember whether a yellow t shirt is 2 or 1 points makes it difficult and in my honest opinion trying to keep a running count of different types of T shirts is about a million times more difficult than driving.

Maybe it is just me that feels that way. Smile

I missed 8 questions apparently, and missed the total by 1. It's ok as an example of "try to do two things at once in a computer game" - actually driving and having a conversation isn't as black and white as they are trying to make out; it's no different than talking to a passenger. It's not as though you'd hear someone say "sorry mate, I didn't see you, I had to count the number of red and yellow doors in the street".

I know it has shortfalls but it does make you think. I can't use bluetooth hands free ( or talk normally ) on the phone while driving a car. But I can use a bike to bike radio while on the bike.

As bikers we do tend to be more aware, but it is really aimed at the average dick in a car. Now you may realise why so many SMIDSY happen, as we have started to see with posts on this site.

Yeah, got the total too but missed on the 8 questions even though I did actually press the spacebar - obviously not at the exact nanosecond that they wanted.

TBH they were obviously going to make it really difficult to get right cause if it were easier they may as well be saying 'Yup, you're okay to use a mobile whilst at the wheel of the car so you can blame us if you ever have an incident cause we've certified you' even though - as shaggy pointed out - doing simple where's wally mathematics and remembering a running total whilst trying to hold a conversation about something you aren't interested in isn't something you do in whilst you're driving anyway. Oh and that rabbit is a very common thing to slip into these sorts of 'count the number of x people' problems, and has nothing to do with your ability to concentrate whilst driving.

And breathe.

Failed, miserably.
Think I was too busy actually listening to the woman, and I still missed all 8 questions.

I've found if you double tap the spacebar, it'll register and you'll get the bloke's reply.

Standard score it seems - missed all eight questions even though I hit the space bar (clearly not at the right time) and got the number of shirts and fluffy thing - I actually thought WTF at it but as it was grey didn't count a point! Shocked

I'm not sure mobile phones are any greater distraction than radio/music or smoking and yet these are still ok in a car. Screaming kids in the back, dogs hopping about? No-one stops these. Just fashionable and an easy thing to pick on imo. You either pay attention and drive well or you don't. How many people say they drive to work and hardly remember getting there - too many it's scary. Driving standards are poor and blaming mobiles is a distraction - get driving reviewed every 5 years and then start on all the distractions. My Penny Coin

Leaving the sound up has scared the life out of me - they should tell you to turn it back down at the end!! Laughing

Phones are a lot more of a distraction because you actually need to be concentrating on it and thinking about it. Music is passive whereas a phone is active.

They are more distracting than having music in the car, but not more distracting than having a conversation with a passenger. Which is still legal.

Depends whether the music is at deafening volume and as a result the driver's concentration is not on the road - then there's the changing channels, CD's. Listening books, language CD's all used by drivers to counter the boredom of driving - great! Radio debates and other types of radio other than music. I just used music as an example and I still think that there are other things that make drivers more dangerous than they should be, over and above mobile 'phones.
