I'm hoping to pick my CB500 back up this weekend and nurse it home (on the assumption I can get a RH footpeg hanger- if anyone has one lying about, please let me know!).

The only obvious issue appears to be that the handlebars are a few degrees off the straight. Am I right in thinking that the only thing I need to do is to slacken off the big silver nut (that is the technical term, isn't it? Wink ) and straighten things up? If so, does anyone have any idea what size socket I'm likely to need for it? The haynes doesn't mention it, much to my dismay.

(I'm aware that it may have more issues than that, but the aim is a slow jaunt from hammersmith to walthamstow so that it's back in my grubby mitts. If that means doing no more than a brisk walking pace, so be it!)

Cheers,
Rich

assuming that the handlebars are not bent, undo only the pinch bolts on the bottom yolk and then hold the front wheel against a solid object or between your legs and twist in the appropiate direction.do not touch the big nut in the centre of the top yoke as this is to do with head race bearing adjusment.if ever you need to adjust the head races be sure to leave the bottom yoke pinch bolts loose while adjusting.do be sure to retighten everything.

That sounds like the operation I need!

Cheers for that, I'll drop you a PM about the other bits once I get the poor thing home.

Thumbs Up
