Just for the hell of it and to get an idea of what sorta bike I can get next... I just did a few insurance quotes.

£800 TPO for a VFR400 NC30
£500 TPO for a ZXR400
£600 TPO for a Goose 350

and I don't even want TPO, I want TPFT but I daren't put in that cos the quotes would have gone into 4 figure numbers!!

Looks like I am gonna need a cheapish bike whatever I get with these insurance quotes!! Pffffffffffffffffffft!!

Having said that I saw a nice J reg ZXR400 for sale the other day... think the guy wanted £1200 for it...... which would be okay...

imports are normally 1 or 2 groups higher than their uk equivalents, because its hard to get quotes.
how about an XJR4? unfaired muscle bike, and very pretty.

scoob mate the Suzuki Goose is NU6 (one lower than the NSR) so you shouldnt be paying that much unless you got a claim against you.
Have you rang Rampdale yet?

I am 17, bike will be garaged, medium risk area, 1 years no claims bonus, ummm thats about all they ask for.

I haven't rang Rampdale yet, I have just thought bugger it I am just gonna go buy the bike and then see what horror of insurance awaits me. My aim is to sell the NSR then look for a decent sports 400 or a Goose 350 or basically any bike that I like, then buy it, and in the meantime do my car and bike tests. As soon as I have passed my bike test I can then see what insurance is like and work it out paying monthly or something.

remember if you insure in your dads name you won't get any NCB.... which would be very usefull for when you get a 125

yeah at the end of the day you'll have to insure it in your name eventually. You just have to live with the costs at the moment and get some NCB.
