Recently I put a new hard drive in my laptop, did a fresh install of XP Pro and Office 2003. I copied the outlook.pst file from my old drive to my new drive, overwriting the freshly created one. opened outlook, everything is there, my contacts, calendar, email - sorted. I was surprised to also find the actual email accounts too, as I had expected to have to set them up again. That's running all fine, and has been for a few weeks now.

The wife's laptop (XP Pro) is dying, so she's got a new one. It's Vista Business (bleuch) but since she'll probably have to support that in her office she's decided to stick with it for a while. Anyhoo, we install Office 2003 on it no problem, and today she's ready to finally move out of her old lappy, so I've copied the outlook.pst file over, same way I did with my laptop.

The calendars, contacts and emails are all there, but this time there's no email accounts. I don't mind setting them up again, but I've only a vague idea of what the passwords may be. With that in mind, either :-

Does anyone know how to automatically move the email accounts from one Outlook 2003 machine to another, going from XP Pro to Vista? Could it be a path name difference?

or

Does anyone have a "behind the asterisks" style proggy that will recover the account passwords?

Try https://www.oxid.it/cain.html

It will find the passwords for you. Beware though most AV software doesnt like it as it does all sorts of security stuff.

EDIT: Infact Maillpassview should do.
