Just as a quick one, who has had their valve clearances done recently?

The local Honda garage have quoted be 3 hours (~£200) for clearances, re-shimming if needed and carb balancing. And they are going to give me a courtesy bike.

Does that sound bisto?

Sounds about right to me.

And a great plus for the loan bike, is that in the price too?

Yeh, CB 500 by the sounds of it Thumbs Up

They even said that they'd want the bike for a few days, and I'll just be on their insurance.

Ride it like you rent it etc.

That's not so bad a price compared to the VFR Vtec. £60 just to buy the tool to do the valve clearance checks, then £600 in Labour as there's a huge amount of dismantling to be done... Sad.

Christ, thats some heavy shit.

Just got it set , 3 hours at £190ish, dropping it in Monday evening, picking it up Wednesday. I've said my absolute maximum is £300, but by the sounds of it it will stick to the quote regardless. So I don't have to dick about removing the fairing to make it cheaper.

I may be forced to go Honda again after this, they've been brilliant.

Loan bike always sweetens the deal... More garages should do them...

Indeed, I was just waiting for the spotty oik to scurry off and find my clutch cable, when I overheard one of the service guys offering a loan vehicle over the phone.

Grabbed a service guy, had a good chat with them, proved I wasn't a /complete/ muppet and clarified what they would exactly do (check, shim and balance) and checked what bike (a courtesy cub90 is not the same damnit) and was pretty much sold before I had my helmet back on.

Had a think about the logistics, and that was that.

But the sweetener was the bike, for sure.

Just a bugger that you need to keep your wits about you when ordering parts. Tried to charge me £1.10 per banjo crush washer once Shocked And they wanted £75 for a CCT, when I've just ordered one for £50 delivered (also Honda Genuine).

Least they do next day delivery for free, so that usually balances it out.
