Just watched this fight from last night on YouTube (don't know how long it'll stay on there before it gets pulled). Pacquiao is devastatingly fast

I watched it yesterday night. As a big boxing fan, hatton's relentless head first style has cost him versus the bigger guys. You can't leave your chin and hands low vs the more skillsul and faster fighters like that. He had the success vs lower opposition and thus felt he could continue, but even with a new trainer telling him to move his head left to right, he didn't do it and as a result got ktfo. Shame really because physically he was strong and if he had a different style, he may have won. Yes pacman is not invincible

That's harsh and, unless I'm mistaken, Hatton never was retired.

At 30 he's hardly old, he's just come up against two top drawer fighters - both rated pound-for-pound the best in the world when he fought them.

Hatton has never been a bob 'n weaver, that's just not his style, he's a head on, fighter and a bloody good 'un (although I think he's had his time). He's done well to remain at the highest level inspite of his style as historically at his chosen weight(s) boxers with quick feet/hand speed prevail.

He was always the underdog (just look at the betting odds prior to the fight - the bookies rarely get it wrong) and beaten by the better man - simple.

Oh and... 15 quid for two rounds when I could've gone to bed after Match of the Day and watch it via You Tube - Nuts

Not harsh at all, he was a class fighter, with a fantastic record and sorted Mayweather out in '07. That should of been it. Especially after that re-match.
He was/is a natural boxer, but didn't learn to alter his style enough.
And only 11 weeks of training for this bout. Even his family were vocal in their concerns (Radio 5live last night)
No he never did retire..my freudian slip on the keyboard...
His reactions looked like that of a 40yr old

And what a punch he lost to. Jesus that was fast n hard.

I have enjoyed watching Hatton, always great entertainment and seems a bloody nice bloke! It is a shame that he has to go out like this.

When i do watch boxin, i love watching hatton, the kind of bloke i've seen him protrayed as and his style has always made me back him, the last couple of fights have been quite worrying going from no loses to now 2, do you think hes having a hard time? or are the fighters hes facing just more evolved than he is?

Stayed up to watch it (and paid for it as well) Unfortunate result, but he was completely outclassed.
Pacquaio has the speed of a lightweight with the power of welter: an absolutely devastating combination as Hatton found out.

I love Hatton, but he needed a drastic change of style if he was ever going to be the best in the world, and it just didn't come. Same old Hatton in-fighting style. Like MinhDinh said, you can get away with it with poorer fighters, having space to get in and wear them out, but Pacquaio will just bang you out before you even get close to him.

Was a sickening knockout though. I was actually a bit worried for him in the first couple of minutes after he went down. He looked gone.

On a more positive note, Pacquaio vs Mayweather is probably going to be the best match up of my generation

Hatton is a B class fighter at best ! cant hang with the elite has fought 2 elite and got battered both times. lacks the skill set and ablity to fight with the big boys and before someone say anything about his record its shit and he wont be an ATG or HOFER.

Pacquiao is one the of the best fighters I've seen, I can't see anyone beating him.

I was looking at his past fights, and can't belive how many people were saying that Hatton would win, he's class act, and I think he's come up like 10 weight categorys or something in his carrear.

Hatton aint in the top 10 p4p at least 20 other fights are alot lot better he's not shit but not elite by any means.

and think pacman has gone up 6 divisions but he turned pro at 16 and only weighed 106lbs people are making out he is tiny and beating all these bigger men but pacquiao is bigger then hatton chest arms, reach etc etc

Floyd mayweather will dismantle pacman. Floyd is the best he is as fast as pacman can throw every punch perfectly best defense in the world cant weight till they meet.
