Cafe Racer?

Ok used the search thing to try and find what the hell defines a Cafe racer.

Can't find it anywhere. So firstly please help me with that one.

And would it be possible to turn a 89 CB125tde into a Cafe Racer? I have basically a full sheet mertal shop to do everything butm not sure what to do.

Been thinking of making a Coffin tank, if that is part of it.

Please help me.

hmm well I've heard a few descriptions of what people think is a cafe racer.

Generally:
Light strong frame
Big engine preferably British.
Big tank
Single seat with a bump-stop seat-thingy (optional?)
Noisy
Clip-Ons (optional?)
Low (optional?)

That's what I would say anyway..

Answers most of your questions, basically any bike can be turned into a cafe (kaff) racer, whether it is a good one depends how far you can go and get back again for the length of a song

Well was thinking of making a couple of straight through pipes off each head, then just running them down the frame and finishing somewhere near the swingarm pivot.

But from what I can gather this is what makes a cafe racer, so please correct me if i'm wrong.

Loud exhaust
Clipons
That hump bit
Minimalistic i.e no side pannels
Hidden ignition and wiring, only basic hand controls
Shiny, lots of shiny
Sort of tanker looking, as in you ride it laid on the tank.
Classic sort of look.

Ok some more about the bike, as said it's a 1989 CB125tde, it was taken off the road when I got the GT and was meant to be rebuilrt by the winter but never was. It is currently sitting outside my front window, under cover with just the front forks and wheel, swingarm and wiring harness, and the back pannel bit. The engine is in the garage, needed new pistons rings, and splitting to reseal it.

So it is pretty much a frame and front, at the minute. So blank canvas. Ideas please.

Did you read the wiki description?

What makes a "cafe Racer" is in the use of the bike, ie racing from transport cafe to a fixed point & back within a set time.

What you seem to be wanting to achieve is the traditional look of these bikes, so you need to decide on the years in question and pick the bits from them.

And ermm seriously thinking of making a start on this soon, but my other projects at work include, my can for the GT and also a X-bridge cross over full bore race exhaust for a mates evo x. Along with a paddock stand. Just got to move Crazymotorbikers bike somewhere. Any fancy taking it off my hands lol. Cheeky git leaves home, and leaves his bike, some people ay, some bloody people.

And i'll just nip and get a picture of the bike as it stands so you can see what i'm working with and hopefully some of the photoshop people can, give me some inspiration.
