Hi guys.

Just in from college, and the coolest yet scariest ride of my life.

Just before i left the heavens opened and it pissed down, so i was taking it easy. I was coming through a roundabout - going to the last exit)

Anyway, i was holding the throttle steady as i came to the exit, and i dont know how, but the back end came out from beneath me, but i kept the thing up. So I was basically drifting through the corner.

Looked dead cool but i was bricking it, and everything was in slow motion. Grabbed the clutch and let go of the throttle and it fishtailed for a wee bit, but i kept it up and when it was stable i pulled over.

The cager that was behind me pulled over to see if i was ok Thumbs Up

Just had to get that off my chest Laughing first *nearly* and hopefully the last.

Cheers

Dunc

Laughing cheers.

Was more luck than anything else though. I think someone up there likes me.

Now i know to take it east on that roundabout next time it rains.

The thing is, there was no manhole covers, and i didnt ram the throttle on or anything stupid, i never even had much of a lean angle going on so i'm wondering why it would have kicked out.

Was well more than an inch :O

Honestly i've had it slip a wee bit which is nothing, but this was a close one it was right out hence the reason i ended up in the layby as it kicked back in.

But hey, it was a scary experience for my first one Wink

the way you and i ride though is probably very different

My back end steps out regular as clockwork when I am pushing to get a smaller lean angle, RS50s tyres are awful though, edges are turning blue from overheating.

I guess you get used to it, I did the exact same thing on a roundabout outside my College the other day. Thumbs Up

True Wink

It is a bus route kwaker6r, went later on and had a look. nothing on the road so im guessing it was diesel.

Might try it again some time. After all, its a CG.

The reason i bricked it is becuase i only got my CBT on saturday Razz

Already clocked up 350 miles Shocked

Next question - how do you drift a bike with really thin tires?
Laughing

Suppose i shall knock it down a gear and rev the shit out of the thing and see what happens.

On a private road, of course.

Laughing agreed,

Dunc, why not buck the trend of the ped bois and actually just learn to ride using the bike in the manner it was designed for?

When you feel the urge to pin the throttle everywhere, spin up the tyres on every corner whilst getting your knee down and exiting with a one handed stand up wheelie then it is time to take a wee break and relax a bit Wink

^^^you might think it looks cool, but to 99% you would just look like a c*ck Wink

Oi, I ride my CG like that.

I don't do it to look cool, but I do it because it's fun. It's great when I'm coming off the motorway slip road and the car behind me moves into lane 2 to overtake when coming up to a left hand bend. I know my bike well enough that I can take that bend at 60mph on my CG with no braking and the car driver has to slow down and pull back in behind me because they underestimated me.

I have had my full licence for over a year and also have a ZZR600E so I'm not exactly a pedboi.

You can still be a pedboi on a sports 600. The pedboi mentality is usually put to rest regarding 2 wheels when they turn 17 and buy a Corsa/Impreza depending on how much money their parents make, the ones who like bikes will pass test and buy an old sports 600 though, fit a well sporty exhaust and continue to ride like a monkey.

What if i buy a GPZ500s when i pass my test and buy a corsa too. Am i a pedboy? Razz

In my opinion the only place i would ride like an arse is on the track. I just happened to find a spot or road with something on it that made me brick myself. The roads where i am are pretty mince for anything other than riding in the sun at 60 or going to work etc.

What if this pedboy does not have a sports exhaust, rides 365 days a year, does about 12000 miles a year on my CG, is a member of the local rospa group and has 2 years no claims.

I ride my CG all out when safe to do so and I mess about on it. By that I mean anything that's only going to injure me and no one else.

Also, my parents did not contribute ANYTHING towards my biking. They don't want me to ride bikes.

I have a full car licence, but cannot afford to insure a car. They want £1700TPFT for a ford fiesta. (my parents did actually offer to contribute a bit of money towards insuring a car because they don't want me riding bikes, but they didn't realise how much insurance was for someone my age and I wouldn't let them anyway as neither of them work (dad is terminally ill and mum has to look after him full time).

That is why I ride a CG125.

ped boi is all about the mentality, going balls out throttle pinned everywhere is an attitude you grow out of, keeping it instead until the roads are suitable and the conditions allow.

In town, roundabouts etc etc are not the place to mess about Karma

Well done on saving it. I know it can feel scary if it happens when you're not expecting it.

I never had it happen on my 125 but my CBR600 did it the first time I rode it. It was wet and I gave it a bit too much beans, albeit in a straight line. That was on a shitty Avon tyre though.

Current bike once did it on the new local bypass in a straight line too. It was on another shitty Avon and it was at something like 90mph ion 2nd or 3rd. That was a bit 'un-nerving'!!
