Subaru Impreza Estate...

I really wouldn't mind one of these as they are an impreza but with a bit more family practicality. Obviously as a rule they aren't going to be much different from the normal saloon shape. But what things are there to look out for with them when buying?

I know there are a few owners on here, so any help is much appreciated.

You'll be wanting a WRX then. The GX 2.0 is rubbish. It only makes 130bhp and yet it has the same kind of fuel consumption as the Turbo WRX. They don't make STi wagons, so that leaves you with a WRX.

The WRX is a good solid car, very reliable unless stupidly tuned, they handle well, stop well and have a reasonablle turn of speed.

However, 23-25 mpg is the best you'll get from one, if its anything like mine anyway. Parts aren't that expensive, and servicing is not as expensive as you think, but its not exactly what I'd call cheap. If something goes wrong expect big bills. The exhaust manifold and turbo pipework is expensive. The Turbos are expensive.

Supposedly Turbos and Clutches are at the end of their life at 50k miles, but mine has done 57k and is perfectly fine. Clutches are expensive to replace because of where they are on the car, and they are large and tough due to the four wheel drive. The Bugeye models will be cheaper because they aren't as soughtafter as the 'classic' style or the 'blobeye' or 'peanut eye' style.
