said it before will say it again, if you want a noticable performance boost for not much money changeing your final drive gearing (loseing a tooth/or two off the back or puting one more on the front) it will make a HUGE difference without overworking your engine which puting a pipe will do, which would not do anything for relyablility and apart from the extra noise your not likely to notice a big difference... Sad

Hi

Realistically a race pipe will give a tiny amount of extra power (although it might screw up the low down power so that the top end power feels far more impressive).

Performance wise I think the RG is a bit down on the Mito and RS, but marginally up on the NSR.

All the best

Keith

Yeah the RG125F, is probably a bit faster than the NSR, as it has a claimed 31bhp@11250, where the NSR has a claimed 26.5bhp@10500. The RG also has suzuki's notorious powervalve design, and as the the motor is basically 1 cyl from an RGV, it still likes to eat the PV just like the RGV, taking out the piston, barrel, head etc etc!

Think Honda claimed more than that, but they are both claims so more to do with the marketing department than what the actual engine can produce.

All the best

Hi keith,
im sure some of the SP and sporty italian NSR125RK models made a bit more than 26bhp, but the only fig i was looking at was the 2003 spanish Honda Broucher, which they claim 26.5cv for the NSR RR. I got the suzuki stats from a road test in a 1992 BIKE magazine road test. Im pretty sure though, that out of all the Jap 125's that the RG is likely to be the fastest, and followed by the TZR125R, and then the NSR125RR. But they would all be close enough, not to make much difference on the road.

RG125F aint going to be as fast as a RS125, bro had a RG125F with a rgv250 barrel ( its a long story ) and it was as fast as mine but mine had a snapped ring so wasn't running right.

Much nicer bike to ride than a nsr though.

Hi

Found an old catalogue and the full power NSR125R (early type with the gold coloured frame) was claimed at 32hp.

All the best

What sort of racing pipe is that you have fitted? From seeing the pic i have to say it doesnt look particually impressive though, and it looks a bit like 3 cones welded together with a bit of pipe on the end. If its a high quality multi tapered race pipe like for example a Jollymoto, Arrow, or Tygra etc, then on most 125cc cylinders you may expect a gain of between about 0.5-2bhp, if its all set up properly which it may or may not need doing, but only running the bike on the dyno with an AFR monitor will tell you for sure.
