Megelli R125 or Yamaha YZF125

Now, both are nice looking bikes.

But im looking for something that has good performance and reliability.

I've heard Megelli's are reliable and listened to the exhaust system which has a deep note for a 125 which in my view is good as I don't want it sounding like a moped, now I like the fact the Megelli has the underseat exhaust system rather on the side.

I like the design of the megelli to be honest, but as it's a pretty new bike (2009 model) I haven't heard much about the performance of it and have spoken to dealers and they are saying around the 100-110 mark, but im not sure if this is just a sale point.

So I was wondering what people that own/ have riden a YZF125 feel about the bike?

And again with the Megelli, what do you think?

100/110 what? K/m maybe miles never.

The megelli only has 11hp which is less than my 21 year old RXS.

I personally wouldn't suggest buying either but if it is only those 2 the yamaha hands down.

performance from a 4 stroke 125 isnt going to be that great to be honest, i'd go for the cheapest option which would be a an old commuter bike (cg125) and do your test then spend money on a good bike.

as it is one of your first bikes its guaranteed that it will be dropped.

They look nice actually... but never seen one on the road. They go for £2300 brand new.

Quite poor power for 125.. only 11hp (not kW) at 8500 rpm according to this...

Two strokes can be just as reliable as four strokes if looked after properly, much faster at 125cc too.

Personally I'd get a few year old Aprilia RS125 or an NSR125 kind of thing, means less to you if you drop it, more power and don't sound too bad.

Rather than buying a brand new one anyway!

go for a 2stroke!
look for summat like a RS125, Mito, or NSR125 much better bikes.
