Right, just been out to play with my Nitro RC-boat (pics below) down the local (ish) pond/lake thingy.

Its a popular place for people to take their kids (and kids in general) coz of the ducks and stuff.

But why is it that these fecking kids not only watch the boat from where they are (fair-doos, it is cooler than ducks Smile ) but have the impertinence to come up to me and not only interrupt, but ask stoopid questions like "How fast does it go mister?" ... and "How much did it cost?" ...

F-Off!!! Rolling Eyes

I've tried various methods of getting rid of them ... my first line is normally "Didn't your parents ever tell you not to talk to strangers???" ... you would be surprised how many say "NO" Shocked .. I tend to say, "well you shouldn't!" ... most get the message and slope off at that point.

I had a cunning plan you could have pinned a tail on it once too .... It was in response to one of the "how fast does it go mister?" questions/kids ... I said "I tell you what, you run down the other end of the lake and I'll race you with the boat and lets see who wins ..." ... so obviously they started running - I made it look like I was going to race them ... let them get about 1/4 way down the lake, then just turned and kept on playing .... I think at that point they reailsed I had out foxed them!! Laughing

I tell you, its like the pied piper at times!!! ... if you are a pedo, I highly recommend getting a Nitro boat - it's actually quite worrying!! Shocked

Anyway - boat coolness!! Cool

Used to have them as a kid, haven't had one for a long time now. Moved on to Nitro cars and got bored and haven't done anything since. That was pretty much what put me off it all though, can't take the things anywhere without the same questions all the time.

Get yourself a little boat to row out into the lake a little and sit in there. Laughing

I've got a nitro car ... same deal with kids/stupid questions Sad

I like the idea of the rowing boat ... will help in rescuing the IC boat when the engine cuts out in the middle of the lake too!! Very Happy

lol, I've got loads of IC engines of all different sizes ... wonder if I could make a IC android woman with different engines for different limb movements???!?! Now there is a project and a half!! Thinking

With all those engines/controls everywhere, it might be harder to get 'going' (and more importantly keep going) than a real woman!! Very Happy

Would the kids still come up to me when I am playing with her and ask me how fast it goes?!?! ... or should I not be playing with her in public areas?!!? Laughing

I doubt it, women have far too many buttons that have to be selected and activated in the right order to get going.

Then to keep it active costs a bloody fortune! Laughing

IC fuel has gone up recently (supposedly due to some pollution regulations at the processing plant).

10% Nitro (I use 10% not 16% myself as I can use it in my bigger plane engines, not jsut the small car and boat engines) is ~£20 for 4 litres now ... so about your £22 for the full gallon of 10% ...

So I'd guess 25% must be somewhere in the £40/gallon now? Thinking

That's what happens when you take toy boats to the park... other kids want to play too.

Sorry, I don't want other peoples kids around me, not only are they annoying, but in this day and age, I don't want people to think I am a pedo! I'd rather them feck off!! - watch from afar if you must, but leave me alone/don't approach me!

But more than this, when I was a lad, I was always told to steer clear of strangers. It worries me these kids have no fear/inhibitions of approaching random adults!

And finally ... Blue_ doesn't share his toys!! Very Happy

16% is fine for little 1cc .049 sized stuff. 25% is a waste of money unless you're racing competitively. 5% was always good enough for 15s, 20s and up. How much is model diesel nowadays? I bet its a small fortune. That stuff is like perfume with all the ether and Amyl Nitrate. Good stuff.

If you want to attract less attention, go electric. No noise whingers either. Stick it in a powered glider and no one notices what you're doing after the first 30 seconds as no one looks up if it doesn't make a noise. Climb to 500ft, power off, fold the prop and go thermal hunting for a while. Bliss.

I used to race competitively, we used to use 25% in .12 engines (200mm foam TC) and 16% in the offroad (8th rally X and truggies with .21 and .28 engines).

All the %'age is is the amount of nitro methanol (or whatever it is) in the fuel, so the more %'age, the less oil you have. Race engines tend to get chucked every season, some of the top racers will actually rebuild their engine every meeting and throw it after half a season so the lack of oil content doesn't really bother them.

Where as if you get a bloke that just wants to fanny around in a field with his car or whatnot, his engine lasting longer is more of a priority than balls out performance. Although you do still get some people that expect 70mph out of the box and don't realise you have to tune it to suit the weather conditions (sometimes you are tuning them constantly as the weather changes).

Not sure how much 25% is at the moment, i went back into electric as i can do that on my own (with my old man being out of the country a lot, i don't have a pit bitch when running gas cars Sad )

And you'd be suprised about kids asking you stuff about electrics, quite a few years ago before i started racing seriously i used to lake around in the school playground. Had some kids ask me if it was engine powered Rolling Eyes Laughing

I don't take my cars out on the street, they are to fragile and cost far to much to do that, but when i used to/if i ever do i just use the same replies to the questions... "to fast for you to handle", "more than you can afford" and finally "can you fuck have a go you cheeky little shit" Very Happy Laughing
