Hello,
I'm not really in the market for a new lid at the moment, but my Arai has definately seen better days. I might be tempted to go for a new lid if it has one of those internal sun visor jobbies.
I've looked at a lot of reviews and most of them say that the internal sun visor is useless on all lids - but they are often by a reviewer who professes a hatred for anything that isn't a normal standard lid.
Generally speaking the Caberg V2 gets rated as noisy, heavy, poorly built etc, the Schuberth lids are bulky and extraordinarily expensive, and the rest seem to be flip up which I don't want. That leaves the HJC FS10 which gets on the whole good reviews.
Has anyone here got one? How do you find it? how is the internal sun visor? Is it as useless as some reviewers claim?
Any thoughts welcome! ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

So no one on the whole forum has a HJC FS10 they want to review for me?
I guess I'll have to take the plunge myself then! ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

The linkage between the sunvisor and the slider that operates it used to be a big weakness, I would have brought one but got welcomed by the sight of a big bunch of faulty ones on the HG counter when I went in. I'd imagine it's been sorted by now but it's worth asking the sales guys if they still have that problem often ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |

I've got one, had it for about 2 years now I think. It's a good helmet, nice and comfortable, has a removable lining and the sun visor is great. I don't see how being able to see when it's sunny could possibly be a bad thing? . It fogs up a bit if it's cold, but normal visors do that anyway. I like how you can put the sun visor up and down while on the move too, very easy even in gloved hands. ____________________ :: Honda XR 125 L ('53) => Kawasaki GPZ 500S ('02) => Suzuki SV650S ('00) => Aprilia RSV-R ('51) :: |

I've had an FS-10 Carbon for about a year...
It's very light, surprisingly so for a lid with an internal visor mech - as light or lighter than mate's Shoeis and Arais.
It's still comfortable, visor seems to close securely (never had to use the visor lock to stop it coming open) and nothing is falling apart.
It's a lot quieter than my previous caberg, but noise is partly down to head shape, fit, bike etc so that's only my experience.
As for the internal visor - I saw a great deal on an Arai the other day, exactly the paint job I wanted, fitted perfectly, had the money in my bank.... But I put it back on the shelf as I knew I would struggle to wear a lid without the internal visor now.
It's not just useful - I find it essential. Try riding west into a setting sun, very bright, visor deals with it - I could put a tinted visor on a standard lid, but I don't want to have to carry a clear visor with me and mess around stopping to change it.
Rode into hatfield tunnel the other day in bright sunlight, once through the entry I couldn't see a thing - one press and the visor is out of the way, one press on exit and the visor is back.
Only problem is you *will* get bored on a rideout waiting for mates to mess around stopping to change visors over when the sun comes out/goes down.
I'm very impressed with it, got mine for £210 from George White in Swindon (took a bit of haggling) and think I definitely got good VFM |
