Had a guy on a CBR600 on Saturday went through the 1.5 mile speed trap at 177.2mph.

Well done that man - I wouldn't have believed a 600 roadbike could go that fast. Must have a smile a mile wide!!

Modified stock which means stock engine with tuning mods like pipe/powercommander etc
Clearly better-tuned than my 'busa which has been running like an old dog this last week Sad

Hi

Are you certain that speed wasn't a typo when entering the details, given that it was about 27mph up on his other speeds?

All the best

Keith

No it was my mis-read when I was talking to you Keith. He was 27mph up on his mile-speed at the full distance. Quite believable. I wasn't there on the Saturday or I'd have gone and spoken to him about the bike. He could give Alan Tinnion's R6 a run for it's money.

EDIT: just checked - you're right I've switched to the full results instead of the 'best speed' ones and it does seem a spurious result. 24 runs though you can't knock him for trying Very Happy

Hi

That is why I wonder as that is quite a bit faster than Alan Tinion, in conditions that were not as good. Basically equivalent to a good 10~15mph up in neutral conditions. All the other times I noticed for the 600 were 150mph.

All the best

Keith

Think a few people are missing the point that I got the joke in first Wink Laughing

Anyway back OT. If that's what the bike is showing as a top speed run, what modifications does it have?

And on the same score if I can get up to an indicated 160 or so with a standard bike, then what sort of speeds am I realistically hitting?

Use a sat nav to calibrate the speedo? On my old VFR the speedo over-read pretty much bang on 10% in a linear fashion . At an indicated 120, max speed recorded by tomtom was 108 mph. At an t indicated 77 the sat nav read 70 etc. so when I took it to Silverstone and (without satnav) I clocked 135 of the straight, I’m pretty sure in reality it was only around 121mph. Sad

Hi

Normal sat nav isn't that accurate for speed, especially when accelerating, and speedo may not be inaccurate by a linear amount. For example one of our cars reads about 5mph high at 30mph, but only about 6mph high at 80mph

All the best

Keith
