Roller weights in my gilera storm need changing, last time it was done an impact wrench was used to get the nut off and on, however i now have neither an impact wrench or a boa constrictor. What would be the best way to get the nut off, will upload a pic as soon as possible

Any garages/tyre suppliers within walking distance?

Push the bike round and ask them nicely if they'll undo this nut with their impact wrench.

EDIT:

I don't know much about the setup on mopeds but it is also possible to lock two rotating parts that mesh together on sprockets by trapping a stout piece of cloth (eg a folded bit of denim) between the two sprockets.

So like the flywheel and kickstart gear? There the only two bits that mesh together but i guess it could work. Cheers for the help guys any other ideas?

the guy I went to get my variator off (for derestricting) also didn't have an impact wrench, so he asked me to put my leg on the clutch, and he used a box spanner (used google translate on this so don't know how correct is this),,, and he hit the bar (also google translate) which is passing through the box spanner with a hammer for a few times and then he has just unscrewed the nut...

Get the larger one as the smaller one will snap ( I know, I tried).

Or buy a much more robust strap wrench which fits on a socket set and does the same job. They sell them in machine mart for about a fiver.

Completely at your own risk.

You can wedge a piece of wood between the floor and the teeth on the variator. Opposite side for fastening it back up. You might need someone to sit on the bike.

I did it with a screwdriver despite having an impact gun about 10 feet away Rolling Eyes Waaaay too lazy. Laughing
