Basically its another financial woe, my situation is this basically. I was having problems with my health during the first few months of the year and also i had a hernia operation. Now i was still getting paid a NHS Bursary of £544 a month up untill this month. Now i have basically paid off all of last months bills and some i haven't, which was solved with a quick call and they said they will give me a payment holiday (Blackhorse for two loans that end at the end of the year)

Now my overdraft limit is only £200 pound and due to missing two direct debits for my bike insurance which i got my Mum to pay, Royal Bank of Scotland have charged me £38 for both of these, fair enough.
However now im over my authorized overdraft and will now keep being charged (not sure how much tho if anyone can shed some light)

Now i've asked if i can extend it to stop being charged but have been told no, now i don't have any savings at the moment so was wondering is there anything i can do? I start a new job in two weeks but it will be 6 weeks till i get paid.

So was wondering whats the best thing to do? I've only been in my overdraft twice before and my Bursary always used to put me back in the black.

Have you actaully sat down with an advisor at the bank itself, rather than over the phone, to talk about trying to come to an agreement to reduce what you owe, and seriously get a part-time for extra income job to help even if it means not being able to go out at weekends for a drink until you eliminate your debt!

Generally, employment agencies pay weekly!

Go into the bank because over the phone it's useless as he/she has to go by company rules and you usually get lots of advisor with varying levels of knowledge and only few managers about, but at the bank it's a different matter as an advisor there has more experience as they are on the front line every day and they can call upon help if needed.

Could be worth speaking to your new employer aswell, they may be willing to help you by paying you earlier just the once.

Open an account at a different bank & tell the first bank to be sensible or get fucked, their choice.

But on the phone you should get to talk to one of the people in the credit dept who specialise in this area, rather than a jack of all trades, master in selling in the bank....

Just be aware that attempting to open a new account while in such a situation, may result in them refusing the request.

I used to work for RBS and you must go by the rules layed down by them and government, but the underwriter/manager has the ability to say yes or no, as he knows all the in & outs of all RBS' own guidelines i.e. he has the last say or you can appeal to someone higher if you feel the decision was unfair!

Did you know that when RBS bought Natwest, except nearly all the top jobs within the newly expanded RBS went to Natwest's bosses(felt like they bought RBS with RBS own money), that their credit issuing rules were slightly relaxed if an application went through a Jewish mortgage/credit broker within a predominant Jewish area of England or that and this is because Natwest gets a lot of business from them. RBS employees went ballistic because that was considered secterian because RBS rules previously did not distinguish on religion.

It's funny when you get an employment reference in Hebrew, and you have to say to them we need that legally translated because all supporting info needs to be in English for us to be able to read it!

I am over my overdraft now due to know job - I phone my bank up and told them my situation.
My OD was £500 and the guy was rather nice and increased it to £680 so I wont be charged anything. However I must pay £50 a month to get it back down to the £500 limit.
