My hatred for ICICI bank goes back a long way, since the last time i said i would never use them again, but here i am in awe of their ineptitude at the simplest of tasks wondering how with all the worlds banks failing this one is still open for business.
Not last tax year the year before i wasn't working. I had quit my part time job to crack on with my final year at uni. I had all my student loans in high interest accounts as well as some savings which i was living off at the time.
I found out a month or so after that tax year had ended that i could claim the tax i had paid on my interest (in the end it came to around £120) all i had to do was print off all my statements highlighting the tax on interest paid and they would pay it all back. Easy for me to do with most of the accounts, as i remember ING had a special report to print off that put everything on one page and worked out the tax i had paid for the interested. Then came ICICI..
The statement report only shown a maximum of 10 entries, didnt have any pagination or tell me that there was omitted results. So for a busy month when i was transferring lots to and from my account i had to search by week and hope there wasn't more than 10 or i'd have to take a day off each search!
After doing this for a while and realising how long it would take me i sent them an email, asked them to do it for me. I got a pdf sent back to me with all the transactions listed as promised but 2 months were missing. So i had a look using their god awful statement report and i found a bunch of transactions for the missing months. I replied to the mail telling him there was months missing, the reply i got...said there were no translations for the months. I took a screen shot of the months, sent them back to him and i didn't get any reply. I sent the email history and screen shots to their complaints department, they gave me a standardised apology email not even referencing the problem what so ever.
So after being lied to and ignored i left, vowing never to return. Until interest rates fell and i had some money to put somewhere. Their bonds were the best rate by over half a percent so i thought i'd give them another try. Password recovery was a joke, not going in to that, but it took a while to get my account back up and running.
Once back on, i transferred 8,500 from my linked account to ICICI, everything seemed normal. A few days later the money hadn't moved, i checked the recent payments report on their site and it had my transfer listed as completed 2 days prior, but no money had moved. I rang them up, they said the direct debit had expired, but no communication about the problem at all. It even said completed!
So they tell me the new direct debit should be set up in 5 days or if i get an email which ever happens first. I get an email 2 days later. The day after i got the mail i tried to transfer 8,500 again. Same problem, the site said it had been completed, but no money come out. So rang up, the direct debit wasn't set up (apparently) when i made the transfer despite the email. He said that transfer is now void and i can make a new one. So i tried a 3rd time but this time for 8,200. A few days later 8,500 came out of my account...The day after 8,200 putting me deep in the red with the bank. Soon as i seen this i tried to transfer the money back. It should be going back today, im waiting to see what RBS does about this before i ring up ICICI but one thing's for sure, their good rates are not worth the trouble. If i get charged i expect ICICI to pay, if they do i will leave them angry, if they don't i will leave them livid for their consistent fuck ups.
tl:dr
Poor customer service, useless website, a cricket bat and melon |

Seeing as the transactions were by direct debit, you should have invoked the DD guarrantee.
Ie when the £8500 was taken out (as is unauthorsed, your 8200 is the only authorised transaction) you should have told RBS to return it immediately. You would then not be subject to any charges. ____________________ Fallen Angel "Nae sniffing my seat now!!!!! "
