Toys'R'us have the ATC2k webcam for £24.99 and 2Gb SD card for £6.99. I know the quality's not great but for that price it'd be handy as a second cam for multi-cam setup on the bike Thumbs Up

Disclaimer: I really wish I worked for Toys'R'us, but alas I do not, so it ain't spam.....roight!

Is it on the website or in store only?

(I've tried looking on the website but can't find anything)

Yeah same I can't find it on the site. However I've been wondering about having a helmet cam or whatever so would be a good starting point; think I'll have a look on my way home tonight.

I would give karma but I've run out :/

Don't forget to pick up a 2Gb SD card too - the 32mb internal memory is only good for 52 seconds of VGA recording - with the 2Gb card it gives you abuot 59 minutes.

I bought one recently for a uni project and I'm fairly sure I haven't ruined it so I should be good. Have you tested yours out yet?

Not tested it yet - got it attached to the helmet, and checked that it's all lined up. Will give it a whirl on the way home from work.

Just picked one up. They're not amazing at dealing with lots of high-speed motion: I'm going to see if it can deal with being attached to my 125's bars. The bar clamp that comes with it has 3 different thicknesses of rubber to choose from, so the thickest one it is...

On a side note: the size of the packaging is insane! What's wrong with a simple cardboard box? I sodding hate those hermetically sealed blister pack things: they shred your hands if you aren't careful, and they aren't exactly the most economical form of packaging out there, either.

Looking forward to seeing the test vid, SlimRick: I've got to sort my 125's electrics before I can give my one a spin.

Karma for pointing these out for us Very Happy

Been quite tempted to buy a camera. Any samples of what these things are like? Especially at high speeds?

Sounds a bit backward, but they are designed to be impossible to get into because they usually contain small / easily knickable things. Knicking the whole package is a lot harder. The fact that you physically injure yourself trying to get into it once you've paid for it is an acceptable side effect for the retailers. Rolling Eyes

Bummer! Got loads in Sheffield if you fancy a trip Very Happy

Just got back and had a quick look at the footage - looks good Thumbs Up Sound is wank, but that's to be expected I reckon. I need to have a play with the mounting angles a bit too. Will post it up when I've reduced the 40 minute commute into something a little more watchable.

And I can confirm that the rubber helmet mount strap thing holds well up to "rather excessive" speeds Thumbs Up

Sadly they are totally crap for motorcycle application!

You might get away with a well padded helmet cam application, but don't even contemplate fixing it to the bike somewhere ... unless you like movies that look like captain pugwash made them!! Wink

£25 is cheap, but having owned one, I wouldn't even pay £25 for one!! If you want an all in one, put the extra £100 in and get the ever popular Gopro Hero.

You'll get p1ssed off with the ATC very soon!!

Not trying to burst bubbles, just been there - done that with the ATC2000! Sad

It's no Spielberg production, but you get idea! I'll try it again tomorrow after I've adjusted the angle and try different mounts, but for £25 you can't go wrong I reckon! Thumbs Up

Good to see that HGV move over when you were filtering.

What was that Mercedes driver waving about?

He thought I was a little too close I reckon Laughing

The vid quality is much better than it appears on YouTube, a lot less jerky and pixelated. I have it mounted on the fairing now so we'll see what that's like on the morning commute. I did try a bit of recording with it on the rear footpeg, but all you can see is the back of my foot.

I'm liking the quality of it, I found another toys 'r' us south of bristol that I'm gonna try tomorrow. Just out of curiosity where abouts did you find yours in the store? Just to check I haven't been a pleb.

There was a section with the computers / mp3 players / digital cameras etc. There were camcorders in their own glass display cabinet.

Oh yeah, watching that vid reminded me of the other thing that is sh1te about the ATC2000 .. the sound!! Very Happy

I still stand by digging a bit deeper and getting a better one, but I suppose in this day and age £25 is pretty much chuck away money, so why not!! Thumbs Up

As you say, the positioning needs sorting, and as suspected, mounted to the lid does help with reducing the pugwash vibration issues I experienced with it mounted to the bike .

In short, you lot are only going to end up doing what I did ... get an ATC2000, use it, get the bug for taking footage, get fed up with the ATCs inadequacies and fork out for summin better!! .. at least it will only cost you £25 in the process, unlike my what £150? back when I got mine!! Laughing

I've already got something better, but that's for the Bandit, when I go touring in the summer. I like the look of the ATC2K as a random 'throw it on for the hell of it' camera: for £25, I've got no significant worries about it getting broken in use.
Looks like it could be fun on the random 125 rides. As for the sound, well - I've got a straight-through on my 125, so it's not like I'd be able to hear the birds coughing in the trees now, is it?

Is it possible to tape some sponge over the microphone to reduce wind noise? I did this on my digital camera and it worked a treat. Just a thought.

I tried all that business with mine, and no, it doesn't really help Sad

The mic (like so many other aspects of the cam) is just shite!!

The whole thing is pretty infeiror, but as we have established, if only to get you hooked and then desire summin better, not the of the world at £25!! Thumbs Up
