I am sure this may have already been done at some point. No harm having it again if it has.
Out of interest and also to learn from other peoples mistakes. What is the most scary experiences you have had in your biking careers....? What have you learnt from these experiences?
Mine was overtaking a coach on my Daytona T595, I had only been riding the beasty 3 months, being 30 years old at the time I thought I knew what I was doing (born again rider ).
Pinged myself up to 100+mph, then realised I was approaching a round about very quickly, I went cold all over and believed I was not going to be able to get rid off all those nasty mph's in time!!! Luckily nothing was coming and I managed to shecane (spelling??) straight through the round about. Exited out the otherside with a heart rate of 170bpm..... I learnt that day to respect the throttle a little more!
Also it was hard to let go of that brake and take the round about, almost froze and went straight into it!! I remember thinking let go, LET GO!!!! ____________________ Mr Pants! (Alex or Al)

I was doing about 40 around some B roads in my area, when I came up over a hill (about 35) and literally just over the hill was a quad bike, stopped, with his arm out to the right, I had no way of knowing he would be there, and I managed to stop just before hitting him, although there was some skidding, and the back tyre was starting to snake.
I was scared, rode the next few corners at about 20mph, stopped at a local cafe, had my lunch, and I was good to go again.
Damn farmers, and their sly hidden turn offs. :<
That and when I was taking a corner in my village, only at abot 15mph, was accelerating to 20 as I left the corner, and the back wheel slipped on a wet manhole cover, again, the back end kind of slipped, I got scared, but was like 1 minute away from my house.
Although they aren't majorly scary high speed accidents, they scared me at the time, and taugh me some lessons.
1)If you don't know where the farmers hidden turn off are, be careful riding over hills and round corners in Devon/Other farm infested areas.
2)Avoid wet manhole covers on corners. ____________________ 04 Suzuki GSX-R 600 K4 - Sex on wheels :>

riding back on the cat and fiddle road about september last year when i had my rs125 i was trying to keep up with my m8's on 600's got to the balcony (the first tight bend coming from the pub)
and got object fixation.. looked out at the view of macclesfield rather than where i wanted to go and went very wide
had only been riding a month or so.
last week was riding pillion on the back of my m8s bike
he overtook a lorry only to find there was another lorry coming the other way. nothing i could do about that braced myself for certain death
he managed to get back in behind the lorry he overtook
no need for stupid manouvers like that when you have been riding for 20 odd years |

the scariest moments i have had are either on roundabouts when people just pulled out on me and on wet manhole covers. ____________________ ?It?s mercy, compassion, and forgiveness I lack?not rationality.? |

I got to a point where I was having one or two scary moments every time I went out with one gang of mates for a Sunday morning spin - that's what happens when peer pressure pushes speed up to 150mph on twisty A roads.
Since then I've considered sticking to tracks... but can't resist those roads. Haven't been out with that gang for a while, fun though it was.
Stupid things I have done: take a look

My scary moment had to be on thursday there when I was out riding the twisties. Getting a little too confident for my own good I raced at a tight left hander a little bit too fast and as I went round I had to lean the bike accordingly to get round the corner because of the silly speed I was doing. This ended up having the bike over so low that I could have easily scraped my elbow along the road if I stuck it out to the side. I'm not exaggerating in the slightest. The tyres must have been on the limit. I have no idea why the bike didn't low side. It was pretty much horizontal. Reassuring to know that the bike will go over that much but I don't think I'll try that one again. ____________________ Honda NSR125R -> Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a -> Kawasaki ZX636 B1H -> Honda CBR400RR NC29 -> Nothing |

Doing 60mph on a dodgy AR125 in the dark on a busy road with no license, no insurance, no protective gear. Didn't even know how to ride a bike until that moment |

Racing down a road at NSL+10 (my bike accelerates far quicker than it stops) only to have a taxi pull out into the space that i needed to travel through to get to the other end of the road.
He managed to reverse back up the side road, just before i shot past his nose (grr crap brakes) . ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/nsrandy/96rs250/ My Bike!

About 2 hours ago...I had a little go of Colin's ZX6-R (very silly, I know) in an industrial estate. Tried to do a U-turn, saw a brick wall in front of me, somehow stalled it in panic. It threw me off and the bike landed on my leg and the floor. Then it wouldn't start for ages and we had to take it apart, and now Col says it's not changing gear properly
Obviously not scary in comparison to others' experiences but I could have easily gone head first into the wall.
I won't be doing that again in a hurry. I think I'd better stick to learning to manover my own bike first |

About 2 years ago I was following a mate through Cornwall (St Mawes). It was dark and cold and I had been riding for about 4 hours solid.
Anyhow I ended up on the wrong side of the road about 4 feet from the front of an oncoming 18 wheeler - basically because I was so tired, I'd started using my mates brake lights as my own "braking markers", and totally misjudged an decreasing radius corner. ____________________ Win first, fight later |
