Hi
Just joined this forum as I need some help from this community.
Here is the case: I own a succesfull automotive website where members can upload their car images, add specs, projects, etc, etc.
Now i'd like to extend my website to cover bikes as well so members can have cars and bikes in their garage. However since i'm a completely noob when it comes to 2 wheels I'll need some help.
I need help to identify the common bike so the bike section is populated faster.
I know of the following makes:
Adler, Adly, AJS, Aprilia, Ariel, ATK, Baotian, Barossa, Benelli, Beta, BFG, Bimota, BMW, Boss Hoss, BSA, Buell, Cagiva, CCM, CF Moto, Chang Jiang, Chater-Lea, CZ, Daelim, DB Motor, Disa, DKW, Dnepr, Ducati, Egli, E-TON, FN, FYM, Gas Gas, Geely, Gilera, Godden, Haojin, Harley Davidson, Hero, Hisun, Honda, Husaberg, Husqvarna, Hyosung, Indian, Italjet, Jawa, Jincheng, Jinlun, Kawasaki, Keeway, Kreidler, KTM, Kymco, Laverda, Ledow, Lem, Lifan, Loncin, Maico, Matchless, Montesa, Moto Guzzi, Moto Morini, Moto Union, MV Agusta, MZ, National Motor, New Hudson, New Imperial, Nico Bakker, Nimbus, Norton, NSU, PGO, Piaggio, Polaris, Premier, Puch, Quadrant, Regal Raptor, Rickman, Royal Enfield, Sachs, Scorpa, Scott, She-Lung, Sherco, Shineray, Skyteam, SMS, Sunbeam, Suzuki, Svalan, Sym, Thumpstar, TM Racing, Triumph, TWN, Universal, Ural, Velocette, Vespa, Victoria, Voxan, Workz, Yamaha, Zongshen, Zündapp
Can you help filter out the antic/grandpa makes ? Also let me know if i missed any ?
Preferably I should get the list down to 30-35 makes
Thanks in advance. |

I'm no bike expert, but you could go on here:
https://www.bikepics.com/manufacturers/
And see which have the most pictures/owners listed.
It stands to reason that the manufacturers with the most pictures are the most popular, so just choose those. |

I've filtered down your list to only include the decent ones:
Suzuki GSX-R.
Everyone knows Gixers are made of a) 100% win, and b) complete awesomeness.
Hopefully, McGee will be along shortly to back me up on this.In the meantime, move along, nothing to see here ____________________ Space Monkey #7

...Joking aside, you really ought to remove any Chinese ones as they are the equivalent of a pair of trainers bought in turkey for 4quid.
Adler, Adly, AJS*, Aprilia, Ariel, ATK, Barossa, Benelli, Beta, BFG, Bimota, BMW, Boss Hoss, BSA, Buell, Cagiva, CCM, CF Moto, Chater-Lea, CZ, DB Motor, Disa, DKW, Dnepr, Ducati, Egli, E-TON, FN, FYM, Gas Gas, Geely, Gilera, Godden, Harley Davidson, Hero, Honda, Husaberg, Husqvarna, Hyosung, Indian, Italjet, Jawa, Kawasaki, Kreidler, KTM, Kymco, Laverda, Ledow, Lem, Loncin, Maico, Matchless, Montesa, Moto Guzzi, Moto Morini, Moto Union, MV Agusta, MZ, National Motor, New Hudson, New Imperial, Nico Bakker, Nimbus, Norton, NSU, PGO, Piaggio, Polaris, Premier, Puch, Quadrant, Rickman, Royal Enfield, Sachs, Scorpa, Scott, Sherco, Shineray, SMS, Suzuki, Sym, Thumpstar, TM Racing, Triumph, TWN, Universal, Ural, Velocette, Vespa, Victoria, Voxan, Workz, Yamaha, Zündapp
Removed all the names I knew to be cheap chinese poop. Left in any I was unsure of.
*Old examples are good classic bikes, newer ones are Chinese poop.
EDIT: Realised you wanted a shorter list, here are the most important ones from that:
Aprilia, Ariel, Benelli, Beta, Bimota, BMW, Boss Hoss, BSA, Buell, Cagiva, CCM, CZ, Ducati, Gilera, Harley Davidson, Honda, Husaberg, Husqvarna, Hyosung, Indian, Kawasaki, KTM, Kymco, Laverda, Moto Guzzi, MV Agusta, MZ, Norton, Piaggio, Royal Enfield, Sachs, Suzuki, Sym, Thumpstar, Triumph, Vespa, Yamaha
I'm sure someone will disagree with my idea of "Important". ____________________ Current Bikes: Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (2020)

From then on, I and the bicycle feelings deeper. |

Why do gixxer owners always insist on this even though the rest of us could easily afford and source one (I mean they are hardly rare)?
Also, I do get a good laugh at a group troup parade of blue/white gixxers go past with matching leathers. If you didn't need both on the handlebars, I know they would be holding hands. ____________________ Current Bikes: Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (2020)

Because you are not a Gixer owner, you simply cannot understand the force of pure win, or the awesomeness.
Go back to your boring life that is made of blandness and every substance opposite to win.
Maybe one day you'll get it, but i sincerely doubt it - i'm going to save this thread in my 'made of win' folder, one day if you manage to understand the power of pure win and buy a Gixer, i'll show you this thread and you'll either cry or just catch fire right there and then.

Ohhh... Now I get it. It's irony. Well played. ____________________ Current Bikes: Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (2020)

This thread has now completely re-constituted itself to be made of at least 65% Teh Funneh.
I've always kinda liked Gixxers, in that if I ever got a sportsbike, they'd be the ones I'd look at first, but the sheer vociferous rage of a Gixxer owner when you suggest they're not 100% pure win is both awesome and hysterical.
Congratulations, you've made me laugh so hard that I'm now converted. I know I only have a Blandit, but I feel better knowing that it's the bastard progeny of an ex-Gixxer.
I'd be a little careful about bringing the Vanilla Ice connection up, though. I'm pretty sure he touches goats for sexual edification... ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |

Having a Gixer associated with a tagline as bad as that actually means epic fail. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade
