I purchased this bike in 1995 from a local dealer (LS Imports) in Portsmouth. It was a reasonably priced, very good condition low mileage example that had been well looked after. Having ridden it around for a while I decided a Streetfighter is what I wanted and the donor was staring me in the face.

So I found an RGV rear seat unit, had K&N's fitted, set of Renthals and risers. The rear was cut of with a disc cutter and a new subframe constructed from box section and steel plate. Next was the crappy respray and incorrect Suzuki graphics, neither of which were what was specified and because of that I never really liked it!

However having spent a fortune and a bunch of hours I just accepted it and continued to ride it.

A few years later (nearly 6) I decided it was time for a full change. I started the Ebay hunt. Upside down K1 750 Front Forks, Front & Rear wheels. K3 1000 swingarm.

My brilliant brother-in-law modded the swingarm. Using the original shaft tube from the swingarm, he cut the front off the k3 1000, then welded in the original tube. This ensured the perfect fit into the frame. After a few hours research I found that R1 05 shock fitted the original slabby setup with minimum effort. However, the same was not true of the K3. The shock needed more travel space, so a revisit to the mill made a space in the swingarm for the spring.

Lots of work later, under tray fitted, original stem transferred to the K1 forks and fitted with a billet top yoke and new chrome bars. new brakes all round (well ebay for the calipers) but new wavey discs on the refurbed wheels and the new incarnation started to come together.

Here is the bike assembled pre paint!

Now here is the painted nearly finished product. The bike needs polishing and some tlc to get the best finish. The engine needs painting and the frame will need more work. Im thinking its a work in progress but is now much closer to what I wanted. I am waiting on Chain & Sprockets (the front sprocket will be 13mm offset). Im also increasing the rear sprocket by 4 teeth so it should accelerate like a race bike! I have estimated the top speed will be down at least 25mph.

I cant wait to get the MOT and ride it!

Looks nice but would look better with a single headlamp imo.

Speed triple bug eyes Mr. Green

I quite like the twin lights, they just look a little mis-matched.
