I turned the telly on to ITV4 after the Motogp to watch the BTTC. That was at three minutes to two. they have managed to show FOURTEEN MINUTES of adverts in just over twenty minutes of programming.
I long for the old days when ad breaks were about three minutes long and quarter of an hour apart. T
Telly is bloody unwatchable these days. I always thought there were regulations regarding advert breaks but i must be mistaken.
Thank God for the mute button!
Oh yeah, why doesn't someone just kill that bloody BT couple,I'd watch that.

I very rarely watch TV these days, and apart from most programs being shite anyway even the good stuff is declined, specifically because of the adverts. I'll tolerate them for a really good movie, but never on Five-US, where they show four to five minutes of adverts for about every ten minutes of movie.

They are slowly killing the goose I'm afraid, and have nobody to blame but themselves for falling viewing figures.

Fourteen minutes of adverts wouldn't bother me so much (I'd just change the channel and watch something else).

What does bother me is the amount of 'feminine hygiene' products which are advertised at dinner time. Why on earth would I like to know about the virtues of Vagisal whilst eating my tea? Even if I had a smelly fanny, it's more than a little inappropriate to advertise it at such times of the day Evil or Very Mad .

Or having some kid declare "I want to have a poo - I want to have a poo at Paul's house". Thank fuck for the ability to record and pause TV. There's nothing I need to see live, so what little I do watch, the adverts get skipped.

Most of the interesting stuff is downloadable, which someone already has done the job of stripping the shite out. If it wasn't for the wife, I'd just have the broadband connection.

Its a scary reflection of society that business' that put up the worst dross adverts are still trading. Case in point, the DFS adverts, nippy in every respect but mostly because of the regularity of them.

Some adverts are clever and do get your attention in a good way, some on the other hand go only for attention and seem not to care if its of the negative variety.

I intentionally avoid companies that have shit adverts. I will spend a wee bit more and make a wee bit of effort to do so if I'm entertained, (which is probably just as bad) but it is a conscious decision on my part.

On the subject of teatime telly... Pet Hospital at dinner time? Why? Just why? Confused

Thumbs Up

My current hate is that advert for stool softener.
"Beg pardon Muzza, you accidently just said an advert for stool softener"
Yes, that's fvcking right STOOL SOFTENER. Women sitting around a cafe table talking about painful shits.

"Hi, sorry I know we are having breakfast or something at this cafe, but I've just had a dump and it hurt like fuck"
"Oh, well it won't put ME off breakfast, and it just so happens I carry a packet of stool softener in my handbag"
"Well that's pretty handy, perhaps I should make a joke about my husband now."
"Haha! Men! I bet he leaves toilet seat up"
Waiter: "Excuse-a me madame, but I couldn't help overhear your conversation, I'm going to have to ask you to leave as you're disgusting the other customers. Also, let me get this point clear, no matter how often your husband leaves the toilet seat up, at least he doesn't sit around talking about stool softener in a crowded cafe. GTFO Plz thx."

I think I knocked the aeriel out the back of the TV some time in mid 2008 when I was fiddling with the xbox. Haven't plugged it back in yet.

Anything I might want to watch I can get on torrent or iplayer, when I want to watch it.

I watch the Moto GP on freeview channel 302, you get all the racing, and extra bits and interviews, the 125 and 250cc races too, and best of all NO ADVERTS!!!

I was watching the box in California once and found myself jaw dropped in amazement at how long some of there ads go on for!!!

I agree, ads spoil the movies, I'm not interested in any of them ... radio advertising is more effective imhho - esp as ppl use ads to make T etc

I cant get BBCi or BBC4 or Radio 2. I don't know why, we've got BT homehub and we get all the other channels except those.
I don't really like the BBC, but it's annoying when the bikes are on and i can't watch them. Especially as we have to pay a licence fee for it.

Mmm...

That arse from My Family advertising BT homehub stuff... Currently he's in his bed having a 'nightmare' about not booking flights or some pish.

But its ok, BT homehub affords customers' the most reliable wireless internet connection on the market. He lies back and smiles a smug fucking BT smile.

I have a BT home hub. Ever since I plugged the utterly crap BT tellybox thing in, the wireless hasn't worked.

More over, I have to have two digiboxes, if I want to watch an on demand film I use the BT thing. If I want to watch digital telly I use a cheap as chips Bush thing as the BT box only tunes in the weakest signalled channels.

I hate BT. I avoided them for years then thought, oh I'll give them a bash. They're still shit.

I'd phone up their helpdesk and ask about having it fixed, but trying to explain to some arse in Mumbai what the problem is might end in an aneurism, I'm happy to just plug stuff in for now.

Thumbs Up

I think we should all go poo at Pauls house!!!

I'd have loved to have been in the pitch for this advert, and to have been on the drugs that the people who approved it were on.

"Great idea, the little kid won't shit at home any more! He'll now only dump round his mates"

At work sometimes we watch Norwegian TV, if there is a good film on. You get about an hour of the film advert free, just to make sure you get into it, then 1/2 hr of adverts then the rest of the film Shocked Confused

Adverts per se wouldn't be so annoying if they weren't repeated so often.

For example, currently when someone says 'annoying advert' to me, the first thing that comes into my mind (other than BT) is that advert for Subway with the talking pocket.

What shit is that, you can see the puppeteer's arm up the guys leg, also, I'm not sure about the whole close up crotch shot when the advert is essentially for a shop that sells baguettes.

I don't want to think about cock if I'm having a baguette. Confused There's a time and a place for that... Laughing

Davina McCall is in a completely different league when it comes to annoying ads...

"Do you think it'll cover my bit of grey?"
"All your grey mum ha ha..."
"What, even downstairs??"
