I'm in need of a cheap bike while awaiting an insurance payout after a chav knocked me off my bike totalled it while I was filtering. As per bloody usual his insurance company tried to settle 50/50 but I've got solicitors reckoning I'll probs get 100% as I've got independent witnesses.

Anyway the claim is taking a while and I need something fun but cheap in the meantime. I need to commute and have some fun. My friend has had a 1996 Triumph Daytona 1200 off the road for 2 years as he fell out with biking. He just mot'd it and wants to sell it.

It's at £1400 but I reckon he'll take a bit less. It's done 28k and looks pretty clean. I've read a bit on them and they are meant to be very fast, a bit clumsy but well made.

Anyone had much experience of one? Are they thirsty? Anything in particular to look out for? Is it worth it?

Seems like a lot of performance for the money but I'm a bit scared that such an old bike may struggle to handle so much power.

All information will be appreciated.
