Got no idea what the hell it was!

I was on the M25 at about 10:10pm, it went past pretty quick but from what i saw and heard:

Arrow Big fat back wheel
Arrow Low tail light so im guessing quite a low bike.
Arrow IL4 engine, couldnt mistake the sound!
Arrow Bloody fast! not like a normal run of the mill chopper.

Any ideas? im thinking some sort of extremly modified superbike, seriously though the back wheel was very very wide! must play havock with the handeling!

Doesn't the word "custom" kinda give it away?

Not with an IL4 Laughing

There's a guy in town who has a complete custom frame, really traditional bobber style, but with a Gixxer thou engine.

Fooking took me by surprise when I tryed to do him down the dual carriageway on the FZ Laughing

I think that programs like OCC, and a lot of custom bike shows, give the impression that the only custom engine is a V twin.

The reality is that the general public, working in their shed, use whatever is available. Some use IL4s because they are cheap and easy to get hold of, others want the individual style with the benefit of power.

For show bikes take a look at Stellan Egeland's BMW Harrier, Wayne Ransom's revelation (imo, ugly) or destiny cycles banshee.

For everyday sort of stuff do a google images search for GSXR hadtail, I'm sure it'll bring some up.

I've seen a few people that have put old gixxer engines into a chop chassis. Kind of street sleeper, I guess. Laughing

Saw a custom bike down at poole quay last night, it was basically a trike with a flat floor and a ramp at the back. The dude just rolled his wheelchair straight on into it. It had some modified handlebar madness going on. It was pretty cool. That's maybe what overtook you on the motorway. Granted this thing was made from a 125 piaggio scooter in baby blue, but it had a sticker saying 'sport' so I think it was a sleeper and secretly had a zx12 engine in there.

Can't think how it would have been anything else.

There is a company around turning out chopper/bobber frames to take the oilcooled GSXR lumps (that includes the B6/B12 and GSXF as well).

There seems to be a fashion in america for taking a litre sportsbike, putting a huge back tyre on, streching the swing arm and lowering them, like stylised drag bikes I guess. Could be one of them.

Mate of mine had a chop built a few years back with a Fazer engine in it, could move pretty quick, I've posted some pictures on here in the past...

I saw a trike which looked like a speed boat on the A34 the other weekend...shame it was in the opposite direction, as I'd have taken a piccie of it.

How do you know that it wasn't just a boat on a trailer that had become unhitched? I saw something similar on Wallace and Grommit Wink

Answers to the above:

a) Because it had a driver
b) Because it was on the carriageway, without any other attachment, ie. a trailer casing
c) It was with three other bikes
