What are car drivers like in your town or city. I live in Lisburn N.Ireland and the motorists in it are one of the most unrespectful people around. They have not one bit of respect for us bikers.

What is your thoughts on motorists in your town/city?

I think motorists are generally the same wherever you go. There are dickheads on every road. I think that every road user should have to take a test similar to the CBT though, coz it really teaches you to be a better driver of any vehicle. Since taking mine (again) I think I notice a lot more goin on. Most bike users who also drive cars will be more alert to bikers I think.. maybe its just coz we can spot a bike a mile off.. just so we can gawp at wot it is?

IN LISBURN THERE IS MORE BOYRACERS THAN ANYTHING ON THE ROAD AND THEY ALWAYS TRY TO HAVE A GO AT ME IN THE TOWN JUST BECAUSE I HAVE A 125 STROKER AND IT SOUNDS RIDICULOUS AND ONE DAY THEY ARE GOING TO WIPE ME OUT.

I find that the majority of drivers where I live are quite bike-aware. However, the taxi drivers are complete nutters and have no respect for bikes at all :evil:

My other mate which owns an NSR crashed into a lampost after being hit by a mercedes taxi in Belfast N.Ireland at 3 in the morning. Taxi drivers are assholes.

A wanker taxi driver wrote my bike off at Christmas and still hasent admitted liability. The fare in his mini-van even said it was his fault!! Madness!

Where i live there is about 5 different taxi companys running in Lisburn and it isnt the biggest of towns. The bastards are fukin everywhere

I live in london and to be honest the taxi drivers are fairly bike aware what with their being so many. The people who you have to watch out for are WVM and couriers o yeah and the occasional bus. Buses are awful. Bike couriers are always in a rush so its best to avoid them they'll hassle you and get pissed if you cut them up in traffic (filtering god 8) )

I think people round here see L's and go mad, I've had stacs of people try to cut me up at islands and light cos they think I'll hold them up. They tend to get pretty angry when I leave them standing....

Best of all getting abuse from lots of pre-Christmas shoppers at Telford cos I cut through the queues! Ahhhh, I was enjoying a nice hot cut of coffee (essential as it had started to snow) while they were still miles down the raod trying to find a parking space. Heheheh the satisfaction!

Hi

Some are OK, some are bloody awful. I used to live in NI (Killinchy, for anyone that knows it), and Belfast was stupid. No need to filter through traffic as nobody used the left hand lane so it was always clear. Mind you, NI has only had a driving test for about 30 years.

By the way, does NI still have a 250cc learner law? Did when I moved to the mainland (1987), but virtually nobody could afford the insurance as a learner on a 250.

i live in london and travel all around, taxi drivers are alrite with bikes, white van drivers are nuts and the fkin women are mad esp in north west london.

spain is the nicest place to ride all drivers are aware of bikes as theyve all riden 1 at 1 point of their lives

the biggest bike ur allowed doesnt go by hp over here it goes by power,apparently! for a learner it cant be over 12hp!!

Shite mean't it doesnt go by capacity over here, in theory a learner could ride a SP1 as long as it restricted to 12hp, but i've a feelin that'd prob not even pull 1st gear!!!

If it's the same as England they moved the limit upto 15hp... most bikes are still restricted to 12hp though
