right, desperate for some new tyres, obviously want something sticky, was gonna buy a set of racetecs k1 front k2 rear.

what you think?

other than the racetecs ive had michelin 2ct's in mind or some pirelli super corsa's...

i want them to be good on the road and track.

i was gonna buy a pair of used ones but the money they want for them is stupid so id rather pay that bit extra and have them from new.

going rate for any of these sets of tyres seems to be 200-230

help me make up my mind!

thanks

mike

I've got Super Corsa Pro's on mine, they came as standard, but the rear was pretty squared off from the previous owner. Apart from that they are good tyres on the road but do need to have heat in them or they feel a bit weird.
Will be getting a new rear soon, so I should be able to judge better once I've got that on.

Got Michelin Pilot Sports on my zx6. Picked them up cheap (£130 a pair) - I think they've been superseded by something or another. Cant fault them anyway: super sticky, quick to heat up, more than you could ever want for the road. Will take them on the track later this year and see what happens. Not sure how they'll last though. Only time will tell.

2cts are cheaper and got more than enough grip for road and track, so do supercorsa but they are more tarty and have more grip, and of course are more expensive, so your choice.

2CT's are certainly not cheap. Pirellis are old tech. The Michelin 2CT's are very good tyres. Pirelli have released a new tyre called the Angel ST which replaces their current Sport Touring tyre, the Strada. This tyre has been tested in an endurance test for 24 hours and one set covered 4500 miles on a 'Busa in those 24 hours. They will be cheaper than the 2CT's/Road 2's and will have comparative or perhaps better life with the same level of grip. It remains to be seen of course! We're having them in soon at the shop where I work so no doubt I'll find out what they're like.

A vote for the Michi Pilot Road 2's

Excellent tyre. Fantastic grip in the dry and wet and they last for a decent mileage.

Can't go wrong! Thumbs Up

The 2ct's are 10 or 20 quid cheaper than the race tecs so not much.

I did have my heart set on the race tecs but just mot sure how they would last on road...

Any one have them?

Not worth using track tyres on the road IMO. Get road tyres for the road, track tyres for the track.

2CT's will probably be your best shout if you want be progressing well through the inters. I was going to suggest going for the dunlop Qualifier II's, but they're too new for poeple to make a reasonable verdict on them.

If you're planning to do a lot fo trackdays, and minimise your time on the road, i'd probably avoid the likes of the Roadsmart and Pilot Road 2's although they are more than capable of handling the track.

I must admit the 014's I have on the bike now did bloody well round the track, I'm not sure what bridgestones equivalent is to the 2ct etc

Anyone not know of anybody who uses the race tecs on the road?

016s are the modern equivilent of the 014, however they are widely considered to be a poorer tyre than 2CTs or Corsa IIIs.

BT016's are excellent tyres - I find them better than Corsa 3's, and at least as good as Pilot power 2ct's.
At the moment we are selling lots of Maxxis sport tyres, people love them and keep coming back for more.
Pirelli have just brought out their Supercorsa BSB's, we can do them for about £180 per pair.
We have a big ebay store (Dynamec ltd) , but BCF members can call us direct and we can probably do you an even better deal.

Shite from cold apparently so poorly suited to road use. Brilliant once hot though.
