Yes they use the IOW£ over there.

I'd use the bridge to get there much quicker than the ferry. However, you need a local to give you a temporary permit number to use it so best to ask the seller for one. In fact, the seller might take normal £ if you ask as quite a lot of residents visit the mainland a lot.

I'd give the suspension a good check over, it'll have had a bit of a pounding!

Just take some ratchet straps with you in case you end up buying it. Otherwise if the crossing is rough on the way back you'll have to stand with it to make sure it doesn't fall over.

Oh and make sure you get back to the mainland before nightfall. Otherwise a small boss-eyed man in wellies and a fluorescent jacket will very likely try to make love to your pockets. They're everywhere.

There is always a risk with buying imports. They do not hold value and spares may be hard to obtain, be aware that the lights may need to be adjusted to dip to the left.

It's a shame there isn't actually anything decent to rachet to on deck of the ferries !! I got offered chocks once.

It does get a little choppy, and I've sat on the bike during the crossing for peace of mind before.
