Right, ive had cable since i was god knows how young and now ive finally convinced my dad to get sky digital
Do any of u guys have sky and split the connection so multiple tvs can watch it in the house? Basically at the mo we've got cable (analog) and we've got the cable coming out of the wall socket and then straight into a splitter/booster and it provides channels like sky1 and skynews to all the other tvs, and then an additional channel for the box. would this be the case if i split the sky cable or would it be split but we'd onlt be able to view whatevers on the box at the time?

You need another box to decode the digital signal.

You can split the output directly, but it has a feature similar to macrovision where you get a bad picture if you boost it too much.

If you /do/ manage to get it to work on more than one TV then you have to watch the channel that is on the decoder, unless you get another box.

To answer the original question, you can split the signal yes, at home we have one of those video sender units, so it sends a signal via the magic of radio waves from downstairs to a bedroom upstairs, it also sends remote control signals back the other way so you can control the box, they can be picked up for around £70.

They're very good, unless 2 people want to watch a different channel!

To be honest I'd get cable digital, we've got sky in our living room and while the channel line up etc.. are all good, Sky are a bunch of tits. Basically we had some bad weather recently and our dish moved slightly, ok no problem I thought, rang Sky and asked them to come and sort it, £60 bloody quid for them to come out, does that take the piss or what, I can't watch television and to get the Sky system fixed that I'm basically renting from them sorted I have to pay £60. Now if you were renting a television from someone would you expect to pay if it didn't work? I'm having an argument with them at the moment, if they agree not to come and take the digibox when/if I cancel my contract then I'll happily pay the £60.

Be warned, the grass isn't always greener on the otherside and I preferred my Telewest digital any day of the week.

We have NTL Digital its alrite but you get more channals on sky and the interactive is sh1te on ntl it takes to long to load, Only good thing bout NTL is its cheeper

Yes Sky are a bunch of tits, the back of our house is no longer the back of our house because of an extenstion, we asked sky to come round and sort fair enough they said but we'll have to come one day and remove it, then come back the second day and install it again?! All for a bargain £125!

We have been on NTL digital for a while now. If you get a box installed, keep it for a while then tell them you dont want it any more they will come take the box but leave the cable. Then you just buy a box off ebay. (Or off a mate that can get you chipped ones )

Best way is to tell em to cut it off 2 days before u move house u keep the box and the card and just reuse it (if ur new house alredy has cable in)
