someone i was speaking to said when going through a speed camera area, a simple answer is to flick your leg round behind your licence plate for a bit...sounds a bit impractical, have you ever heard of this being done?

Or you could try sticking to the speed limit then you won't have to worry about breaking your leg trying to cover the number plate Rolling Eyes

No I don't do it, I wouldnt try, was just wondering if anyone has heard of it because it sounds a bit stupid, can you imagine looking out your window to see a person on a fireblade hanging halfway off with his leg clinging onto the back of his bike? sounds weird.

I've seen it done. I was travelling in my car along a quick A road and a guy ona streetfighter came flying past. I thought "oh man, you're about to get done doing a silly speed", when his boot appeared across the plate.

Weird way to ride but it seemed to work for him.

My legs would never reach that far back! Knowing my luck I'd kick the bike throwing myself off balance and crash, whilst being photographed by the speed camera!

Yep I speed everywhere usually, but Rolling Eyes if theres a big yellow speed camera in front of me my first thoughts are to slow to the speed limit (then speed back up after) rather than trying to practice my gymnastics by bending my leg around to cover the plate Rolling Eyes which in my opinion, people who do that are 1) stupid 2) wankers and 3) give bikers a bad name. Not to mention the fact that once they are spinning around messing trying to cover the plate, they aren't in full control of the bike and are a big danger to other road users etc.

All for the sake of slowing down to the limit for about 10 seconds whilst you ride past... Speeding through camera's isn't big and it isn't clever! Just gives more anti-bike fuel to the government etc.

I've heard of it being done, but cannot say that it's something I'd do. If you're caught later on and they have the proof, you're going to be done like a kipper! The law will thro everything at you, by bye licence!

The trouble with a numberplate flipper is that the mere fact that you have it on your bike is a big dodgy... while you can't be suspected of anything for being in posession of a foot.

I really don't see what the problem is with slowing down for a speed camera Eh?

They are big and bright, you can see them easily, you can slow down for a few seconds.......

Only problem is when you don't see them, so if your speeding you will get caught. But then the number plate flipper is no good either, as you won't see the camera to flip your number plate up!

I just don't see the point. Is there something cool about speeding through cameras that I just don't know about? Laughing

Please please, just don't come crying and moaning when you get a speeding ticket , fine and points through your letterbox!!

If you get caught then fair enough, mistakes happen, I'd be lieing if I said I've never had a speed camera flash me if I didn't see it in time or something. But if you get caught because your pissing about with the number plate flipper or covering plate with your foot then it is just silly.

Smile

I can't see the point of hanging halfway off the bike when all you really have to do is close the throttle for a few seconds. A hell of a lot safer and a damn sight easier to do.
