Just smashed our flat screen tv Doh!

Was being an immature child with the cats which ended up in a situation of my two yr old daughter standing on the TV table to try and get involved whilst wobbling the TV in excitement.

I picked her up to put her on the floor and bang!

She still had hold of the tele Crying or Very sad God dammit, it's only 4 months old Laughing

So here's a lesson to you folks, don't buy a Bengal and act like a child with it whilst an actual child is nearby with your expensive tv in reach.

Is it expensive to get a flatscreen HD repaired or should I just buy a new one?

I guess your lounge isn't big enough to swing a cat.

It's big enough to swing, let go and count to five before it lands. I just happened to be stood next to the tv at the time.

Well, you can get a half decent one for about £150-200 anyway so I wouldn't see the point in claiming.

Tesco, Ebay (reconditioned) - It's only ever used for the CITV and CBeebies channels anyway so it doesn't have to be top tech.

I should of been more specific really, I was thinking that if I got a new one for the lounge then I could get this one repaired and have it in the back room for my 360. Saves me having to fit in around any 'regular' programmes.

My error... apologies.
I thought you were talking about a decent living room type screen (ie: 42 incher and fair quality) ... didnt realsie you were talking about a small flat screen in the kids room.
yeah, not worth claiming one that.

Don't really need anything bigger than 26", it's the exact same TV as another bigger name brand (I can't remember which) with a different casing on it. I know this because my mother in law payed a fortune for this better name TV and it is Identical to ours in every way.

Besides, with 4 children it isn't worth risking a big expensive TV.

Sorry if I've wasted your replying time, didn't mean to give the impression that I was another one of the typical pompous internet twats. Wink

Sounds like a classic moment. Laughing

I agree with shellshock though, we are still on a 20inch CRT in the living room as the main TV, and it does the job fine and will for the forseeable.

I've still got a 20 something inch CRT in lounge (watch it once every 4 months?) and it was given to me. Did have a 26" widescreen CRT with a bollocksed tube but still worked, was also being given away. Not everyone spends all night infront of the TV which is why shops sell more than just 42" plasma uranium infused quantumn superscale tehnicolours.

Don't be a nob. Scouse used the words Expensive and HD in his original post, I don't think Silky was out of line expecting it to be a largish screen considering how cheap modern (4 months old) TFT screens are these days

huh? where the f*ck did that come from ?
you do realise I was agreeing with the op about the fact its not worth claiming on a small flat screen .. as I was mistaken into thinking he had ruined some huge 42 inch plasma ?

your attitude is a bit messed up ... broken in fact ... you wanna put a donk on it blud !

In fact ... on reflection ... I insist on a full apology.
Thankyou.

Let's not let this get out of hand? At the end of the day you did sound slightly arrogant in your post even if that wasn't your intention, and you can't really tell in typing anyway, let's just leave it at that Wink

It is a HD TV and at the time we got it was priced at £350 in a sale. £350 to me for a TV is expensive in a house that runs a high risk of damage. Especially where it's use is only for kids channels and very occasional 360 playing.
