Hi,

After a bit of advice Smile

I'm looking to do my first trackday, I will be on a GS500 and both of these tracks are a good distance from me. Which would you recommend?

Cheers, Mike Smile

Not everyone likes Lydden. It depends what you want from a first trackday, but for me it'd have been good (it was actually the second track I did.) It's relative simplicity means you can focus on the riding technieque. Rockingham has some more complex corners as well as just more corners and a bit more variation in width of track.

Cheers guys:)

tbh I just want to have a bit of fun, I did the Haslam race school last year, learnt a bit from it. Just don't fancy paying that kinda price again though and would rather go at my own pace:)

I know the GS will be nothing like the CBR I was on back then, but will be nice to push the GS on track as I know im not the greatest on the road and would be good to improve my cornering on it.

I'd be willing to bet that if you learnt a bit you could match the lap times you were doing on that CBR on your GS, even as it is!

Do remember to only get a diddy bit quicker at a time, so that you get a good feel of both of the bike and you react.

Do you think I'd get away with booking a couple days before the event or to book in advance?

Cheers, Mike

Definitely Lydden!

Trackdays tend to fill up before the day, so I'd book in advance. You don't need to be out of your restriction for Lydden either.

If it is your first trackday, then it really doesn't matter, just go for which ever one is cheapest/most convenient date wise.

Rockingham National is a far better track than Lydden (IMHO) but Lydden is fine. It has the added advantage of brilliant spectator visability, so you can watch others to see where they go and if you have friends/family there, they can watch you - you can see the WHOLE lap if you stand in the right spot!
