Tried some Red Route Lincoln dragging jeans on today in my local bike shop, they seemed nice, but the kevlar only covered the knees and ass, what if i slide down the road side ways?

Anyway I couldn't get them as my I had to activate my CC.

These were pretty pricey at £140.

I currently wear waterproof textiles, but lining is not breathable which makes them horrible in the winter.

Just wondering what other options there are?

Hood jeans are fully kevlar lined and half that price.

The sizing comes up pretty big - I'm a 34" waist in normal jeans, but I need a 32" in these.

A nod for hood jeans here as well, I prefer the fit and feel of the heavier denim of them over draggin jeans personally.

The K7 is made in the same manner as draggin jeans, thinner woven aramid covering most of the inside of the jeans. From the outside you'd have no idea they are armored at all with only the high cut waistline (Fairly important when your not zipped in at the waist) making them look anything out of the ordinary.

Concept sixes are imho a little more comfortable and a bit cooler in hot weather too, they use thicker & softer knitted aramid if I'm not mistaken, they do have a extra visible stitching though.

The hood jeans all look very old fashioned. with traditional orange stitching.

The Red Route Lincoln jeans had more modern look with pale yellow stiching which IMO looks better. They did however have visable knee armour (which I don't mind)

I have a pair of held jeans. They are a very thick denim, double layered in places, with kevlar patches on the knees - with pockets for optional armour - and around the whole arse/ rear thigh area. Obviously not as much protection as a decent pair of textiles or leathers but better for short runs about town etc and a bit more protection than a pair of levis. Cost me a bout £55 if i recall correctly.

Draggin are usually around £100 - think maybe that's their waterproof ones? I'd go for hood personally, though use both for work; it's only the Draggin cargo-style ones I was unimpressed by.

I had a spill with a pair of Draggin' jeans recently. As has been noted, the kevlar reinforced areas do work, but I slid sideways and it just tore through the bottom panel as easy as normal jeans, they also rode up my leg so i also got a pretty serious graze on my knee too.

Not waterproof either - they don't pretend to be.

I've looked at them in the shops, I much prefer the idea of them rather than textiles, but are they actually substantial enough to make a difference? I do worry that they wouldn't really offer that much protection.

The seam on the bit that goes over your goch on my Dragg'in jeans has ripped, wasn't even on my bike... not that impressed. Had them for probably a year and half and to be honest they aren't that amazing.

They didn't rip when I came off my bike (over trousers did, so I assume the jeans did their bit), and they are nice to wear on the bike (they are my only pair of motorcycling trousers full stop). I'd try some other brands first.

Agreed not that impressive, having to put on more and more patches as the denim has worn and now got holes in various places. Had them about a year but would expect them to last longer with the amount of use they've had.
