Yeah guessed it had something to do with suspension or something. Just wondered why a lot of bikes opt for that setup rather than, what I'd think is a simpler and superior method of just doing what a lot of Hondas do and have i at the top bolted to the swinger.
Honda know what they're doing though  |

I suspect it's just cheaper and easier to use a torque arm. Any other system has to have some way of moving with the chain adjusters which takes more engineering than a bit of flat bar with two holes in it.
Or possibly because nobody thought of it. Like a lot of early front disc brake callipers were mounted on the FRONT of the fork leg rather than the back meaning the lugs had to take the full braking force. GT series suzukis and the Laverda Jota being classic examples of this. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen.
