Intersting point to note......

Busses are the worst offenders for spilling diesel on the roads....

Yet bikers are campaigning to ride in the very lanes they polute the most.... Rolling Eyes

Hey ho, nowt so strange as folk Wink

Trouble with bus lanes is once you let taxi's in, they become just like any other lane, especially where there are no run off's for the busses to stop in.

Ever tried riding through london rush hour traffic?

Bus lanes do make it alot quicker, it just requires a little more concentration on cars and busses cutting across you etc...

Besides, just because the option is their doesnt mean that you have to use the bus lanes, it just means you can if you want to.

You can ride in bus lanes in Bristol, sometimes its fantastic and you can cut out a whole mile of traffic with comparatively little risk. However a lot of the bus lanes in Bristol are also available for people to park in, so there are some that would be great to use but there is a car parked in it so you are stuffed..

I do find sometimes that if there are a lot of buses they aren't so handy. Taxis are never much of an issue for me though..

They are seriously dangerous IMO. I'll still use them if theres fuck all in the way and I can beat the traffic to the right, but its all the random swerving of buses/coaches/taxis in and out of the lane and muppets wanting to turn left.

And the cyclists Evil or Very Mad

Fun to deafen, irritating as fuck generally though.

Hey, I'm all for riding in them... Thumbs Up

Sadly i live up' north were we are far more civilised. And do not spend hours going no where.. Crying or Very sad

Just seems odd to be fighting to be able to, when they are one of the worst places to ride.

To be honest trying to wrestle your way through oncoming traffic is far worse than potentially having to deal with diesel on the lane (which might I add I see less of in bus lanes than on the road). They aren't always useful but when they are useful they save you a hell of a lot of time.
