Right I have only manage to put the plate on my bike today, currently it is insured but no tax or MoT I cannot find anywhere that will MoT my bike today. The bike is fine everything is kosher just no tax or MoT.

On the slight chance I did get pulled or riding it what would I get?

Not that I would ever parktake in illegal activities you understand.

TBH the chance is very low I reckon but the if you were caught the price would be high so based on that I wouldnt risk it but thats just me.

It does suck but imagine how you would feel after all this work on the bike and a few days off and you get caught riding illegally Thumbs Up

(Your bike looks the sex by the way! Very Happy )

They could make you phone and pay for insurance on the spot if there in a nice mood, but with no MOT also.. your looking for it to be taken off the road there and then, £400 odd fine for the no insurance, then the no MOT, then holding fee's, they then will probably also give you points on your licence.

Then you better have some cash for the bus home Thumbs Up

ANPR's can catch you out easily, normally you see the vans parked up with camera's in, there just not for people speeding y'know, they will read your number plate and display if you have tax, MOT sometimes even insurance.

Seems a bit harsh as he's already got insurance. I've never heard of this happening; they tend to be much harsher on no insurance than no tax/mot. The latter two, most importantly are non-endorsable I believe.

Depends on a lot of things, but I'd expect around maybe £120 in fines?
Apparently there are a lot more hidden permanent ANPR cameras around these days, but not sure how 'actively' they are used to do people for no-tax.

sorry, read the last bit wrong, to early for me still, but yeah, if you've no MOT or tax then it's not as serious as the insurance, but you can still get a fine and if its in really bad shape as in falling apart (this case probably not) they can take it off the road, but it's up to the officers that pull you.

But the tax, they can make you pay on the spot Smile

That can happen regardless of whether or not you have Tax and MOT etc - I was stopped by a bored bike cop who was with an ANPR van because he noticed my clocks were loose. Though the 'stop' only happened by the point I'd got off at my house down the road. I was then attacked by various people who wanted to see if I had any outstanding court fines etc against me.

As far as I'm aware, the tax fine is from the DVLA and not the police. The police merely 'report' it to the DVLA.
Have you any evidence relating to them making you pay for tax on the spot? I've never heard of this being the case and don't see it would be reasonable for them to expect or to do logistically.

In terms of tax a report is made by the police to the DVLA that they have seen the vehicle used without tax. The DVLA then decide whether to fine you, charge back-tax, or whatever else they do.

Depending on the force or the officer, you might get a fixed penalty for no MOT, you might get reported there and then for it, or they might give you a producer and you get reported at the police statiion.

Whichever way, it's all grief that you don't need, you're increasingly likely to get caught with the advent of ANPR cameras, and I'd really really suggest you don't ride the bike until it's all legal.

TECHNICALLY the fuzz can do you for no insurance if you have no Mot as it deems the bike not in a roadworthy condition,
check the small print on the insurance policy, should you have a prang they WILL use it to get out of paying as the bike technically shouldnt have been on the road,

Maybe they MIGHT try, but if the accident wasn't caused by a problem with your vehicle, they're going to find it very difficult.

No they won't. They can't. If you have insurance, they can drop it to 'accident only cover' (basically TPO) and refuse any extras etc, but if you have a policy then you are insured. End of.
