I am at a complete dead end with my diversion 600 front brake system.

The caliper is locked solidly to the disk, you have to drag the bike around as the front wheel will not spin.

I have had the complete system off, changed the master cylinder, brake house, caliper and even the front disc. Re-bled the whole system and the bloody caliper has locked its self to the disc and won't budge again! How can a complete brake system work on one bike and not on another?

The pistons in the caliper are clean, the brake fluid is new. What could possibly be causing it to lock to my disc?

Might be a stupid thing to say but you've put the pads in 'right' haven't you?

I had a similar thing on my RD530 and it turned out that the brake lever was adjusted so it would never quite 'release' the brake master cylinder. As you rode along the air in the system would expand due to heat and slowly put the front brake on until the front wheel completely locks.

Make sure there is enough freeplay in your brake lever, and I'd also suggest making sure that all of the pad springs and pins are present and in the correct way around.

Good luck! Smile

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Did you say the caliper is new or a new second hand one? Last time my caliper seized on my FZR it was the wheel bearings causing my disc to warp and my caliper to seize also.

Possible that your bearings in the front wheel are knackard?

Thanks for your replies, I finally found out what the problem was (7 hours of messing about later) the 'floating' caliper mount had seized solid so when I had fitted new pads it had not adjusted its self correctly. Its still seized solid by the way, I can't get the f*cker to budge.

Dammit, should of realised it was a floating brake! Get it off with gentle heat and lube it up with some red or normal grease, we normally use white grease on bearings and stuff thats in contact with water or such.

I didn't even realise it was meant to be a floater it was that seized! Luckily I had a spare caliper handy to compare, sadly the spare is for the wrong side of the wheel so I can't use it. I might have to invest in a blow torch of some kind to try and revive the floatyness.

Thanks for your help.

Hmmm, trying to think of a way to get it off without blow torchness, I would try a heat gun if possible, but that said it might melt the rubber gators, tbh id try using the hydraulic force to get it a little bit free, then remove with gentle heat.

I hope you can pry it free, just try and be gentle-ish to minimise damage.
