Biggest load of shite I've seen at the cinema for a while, but it was so bad it was hilarious.

You have to see it for the possessed Goat that talks. I imagine this film would be seriously funny if one were high.

A possessed goat?! One og them leapt out at me on Alston Moor a few weeks ago. You could see the evil, malicous intent in it's cold, beady, inhuman eyes, as it flung itself headlong under the wheels of my bike, intent on doing me maximum harm.

Oh, hang on, it was a sheep, that fell off the embankment. Still inhuman though Rolling Eyes

Seriously though, I thought it sounded OK. We get to ge to the flicks about once a year due to too many children and absolute zero babysitters so have to choose our times/movies carefully. Will give it a miss now.

Cheers Fella Wink

This and Last house on the left where looking pretty hopeful, although you can hardly expect a good remake of LHOTL either Sad World Cinema is where it's at, Holywood is all shit now.

That's kind of the point - have you not seen any of his horror films previously?

Watched it with the Mrs last night.
Yes had some funny parts - the goat did crack me up.
But it did have some jumpy moments. I know I jumped at some things.
Mrs however - Not seen anyone jump and squeeze me that tight Laughing

Id say a bit of both.
The old women - some of her actions was funny but somewhat gross too.

Original poster must not have 'got it'

Directors previous films are Evil Dead series. Also, similar to BrainDead etc.

It's scary in some moments, funny/disgusting (not like in a torture porn film like saw) but more in a 'gross, haha' way.

I thought it was great personally, for it to be sort of serious, sort of scary, and sort of funny at the same time shows some writing and directing talent.

Go and see it!

Yeah, just seen it and agree with the above - classic Raimi! The cinema we had it in had the volume so loud it actually hurt my eardrums during the seance scene, but it made the jumpy bits extra jumpy.

Don't judge it alongside the modern horror film as it's nothing like them. It's more like a throwback horror film with modern effects and a large sprinkling of black humour.

Which cinema, and which company? I was at cineworld, Stevenage and it was also unusually loud. Maybe it's supposed to be that way?

I saw it at the Odeon in Newcastle. It was insanely loud but in a good way. The walls must be 10 feet thick to stop the sound getting through to the screen next door!

*BIG EDIT BECAUSE I WAS SPOILING IT FOR EVERYONE Very Happy*

It was also very loud when I saw it (Cineworld).

Can't believe anyone could think it was shit (unless you didn't like horror films which would be fair enough)

Classic Raimi bits like the dancing man and the goat talking could be a bit Marmite like to some, but surely the rest of the film stands up as a quality mix of jumpy bits, humour, a smattering of gore and some quality old lady gumming.

So apart from your aforementioned two scenes (including the spoiler Laughing) what were you expecting and what did you think it failed to deliver?

Well the only parts that made me jump were because of the sound being so loud.

The rest made me laugh at how bad it was Confused

Like was it meant to be that funny when the old women smashed her head off the car dash?

Im guessing the nose bleed was mean't to be funny. But I didn't find that funny, I just thought 'WTF?'.

Perhaps, but I'll live happily ever after thinking it was a load of shite. Enjoyable shite, but still shite.

The one thing that did make everyone jump in a quiet scene was some guy in the back row stood up to walk to the loo im guessing.
But because he was tall you just see this black shadow on the screen and everyone jumped.
Felt sorry for the poor bugger as almost everyone was laughin at him as he walked down Laughing
