i've had a few people on the back of my bike and all complain that i sit too far forward which makes it really uncomfortable for them.. well, seeing as i can't possibly be sitting too far forward, it seems that the issue is the main seat on my bike is too large.. or i'm too small for the seat.

maybe a pic will help. i'm in red, pillion in green is where they are meant to be.. pillion in blue is where they end up wedged between the two seats after a bit of breaking.

is there any solution to this?! the bike has no grab rail behind the pillion seat..
cheers!

Also brake earlier and smoother.

Yes!

Got one for my bike on eBay, kicks ass! The woman doesn't slide about now Smile If your braking heavily enough to make your pillion slide, they need to hold on better. 1 hand on grabrail, one on the tank. If i'm just cruising along, my gf holds onto the bottom of my jacket.

Get them to place their hand against the tank to brace against braking; using the rider is generally a bad idea.

I have the same problem riding a zx6 with a perch up back for pillions.
Since I sit so far forward they are bent over like a pretzel trying to reach around me to hold on.
I don't have grab rails and I sure as shit wouldn't be trusting that shit strap over the pillion seat to hold a damn thing.
I actually prefer them to hold on to me so I know they are still there.

Anyway I picked up a set of these and find they can sit further back now and still hold on to me via the belt/strap.
Be aware though, that on breaking they are still holding onto the straps which go around your lower waist and can load up a bit of pressure on your lower back after a while.

I have the exact same problem with my mrs on the back. If I sit where i want to sit, with no back pack on, there's so much room between us it's ridiculous. Have to plan braking so early otherwise she ends up sliding down into my seat. Plus the strap on the pillion seat is so tight she cant get her hand under it.

Going to have a look at some aftermarket grab rails. Only don't want some lairy bracket sticking out all the time, it needs to be hidden when removed.

My missus always just holds onto the tank so she can brace against that under braking.

i know that bracing against the tank is a good idea.. but thats not the issue.. the issue is that in order for the pillion to be able to reach the tank/me they are stuck in a really uncomfortable gap between the two seats as i'm quite small and leave about half a foot of room behind me on the main seat.

I disagree Smile... how big you are is irrelevant to how far the pillion can reach to get to the tank... maybe they just need to lean over more?

A decent bit of room between the rider and pillion generally work best in my experience.

wouldn't get one of those tbh, when iv had a few pillions, iv had to tell people to link there hands around me because at first some would like to hold onto my jacket which has a similar thing, which every time i braked they nearly killed me.

Another vote for the "Love handles".
I've got a set for when I take Roxanne out on the TLR. Where they are around your lower waist. When you are braking, Its not as bad as you'd think.

My preferred choice of pillion position is when they put their hands flat on the tank, And under acceleration, Use their inner forearms to brace against my hips / stomach. Then they can brace against the tank under braking too.

I have a sort of similar problem ...

When I accelerate hard, not just for kicks, but when overtaking etc, however well i hold on with my knees, I seem to slip backwards ... do these seat covers fit on the main seat as well does anyone know? Would be really grateful for your help!

Cheers

I'm surprised that no-one has factored in the size of the pillion's norks... if, and I stress "if" the picture is to scale (and it looks about right), then the main problem would be the forward momentum on the pillion being increased by those huge wabs! There's your problem... If you had a pillion with smaller baps, they wouldn't drag the pillion forward under braking, thereby solving your problem!

Cheers

Drew
