Oil contaminated by water/coolant

I just did an oil check on my k7 gsxr 600 and noticed a thin layer of frothed up water on the surface, through the viewing window. Its only a tiny amount but I really want to look at it asap to stop any permanent engine damage.

Could anyone suggest where to start to find where fluid could be leaking into the engine?

I think it may be condensation, its been asked about before on bikes, but someone with more knowledge on big bikes will be along soon.

Head gasket. I'd be surprised on an 07 bike though, unless the head wasn't torqued correctly or it's been thrashed from cold.

Change them both then keep an eye on both, as said, it;s more likely to just be condensation.

Wouldn't bother changing them unless the coolant level has dropped and it needs an oil change. If it's condensation it will go after a decent length ride and wont be doing any damage. If it hasn't gone then headgasket is as said the prime suspect.

Buy some of the coolant additive, so you should see the additive in the oil then you know its a if its a HG issue or not?

What sort of rides do you do ?

Should not really be seeing much in the way of condensation in the oil, if you are using the bike a lot now.

What is the coolant level like, if its down then it could be HG, if its OK, then other than water leaking in. It has to be condensation.

Change the oil for fresh and see how it goes.

Hi, thanks for the suggestions guys. Its a race bike so works fairly hard but it is a low mileage one. I have changed the oil and will see how she goes. I recently purchased it and believe it was sitting around over the winter in a shed so may have suffered some pretty cold temperatures!
