Well where do I start.
Me and Dam_buster went to Bristol today so he could pick up his new car.
We went on the TLR to avoid traffic and get there quicker. Coming from Medway (Kent), It was 158 miles each way.
On the M4 for 77miles got rather boring. Cruising at around 90mph. Occasionally giving it a squirt hitting the 160 mark.
Backed off after a few miles at 140mph. And a couple of minutes later I have a Silver BMW unmarked car on my arse with blues and twos on.
DOH!
Indicate left / Shoulder check, Across into the hard shoulder.
The BM pulls up in front of me. Me and Jim got off the bike and the first thing I said to him was something along the lines of "Bye Bye license, Looks like were getting the train home".
The copper got out of the car and walked up to us. Had his book of tickets in his hand so I knew he was gonna do me for something.
He asked me how fast I was going when I passed him. I replied honestly and said "Not too sure, I was paying attention to the road, And I cant remember passing you".
He said he was doing 70mph when I passed him, Making him feel like he was standing still. He gassed it and couldnt touch me.
Luckily for him (Unluckily for me) I backed off, And it took him a few miles to catch up with me, At which point he clocked me at 98mph. That is when I saw the lights and pulled over.
He then went on to say that its a nice day, Its quite a clear road, And although I was riding at well over 100mph, I was doing it in his opinion, Quite safely. We were both in full leathers, Boots, Gloves etc, And the bike was all Legit.
So he stuck me on for 3 points and a £60 fine for doing 98mph in a 70...
I dont know weather that is unlucky, Or F*cking lucky. I guess I appreciate my license a bit more now anyway.
Just for the record, Jim bought an M reg Rover Metro from Bristol.
Running a 1.8 VVC lump kicking out 160bhp.
Pissed off a bloke in an M3 on the way home.

Do you not check for likely unmarked police cars when going over the limit? I think you were lucky, definitely not unlucky! |

I reckon 60 outta pocket and 3 points is like scoring a shag and having her pay for the dinner and movie too.
Fucking excellent.
You do the same after it's over too....get ya gear back on and fuck off quick smart before they change their mind. ____________________ meh |

+1 for a good result. A few MPH more when clocked and it would've been bye-bye licence. It's rare to get a copper in a car that lenient.
That TLR must be silly quick, even with a pillion.
Don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh.
Result, mate

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I really like the police. I know you get the odd arseh0le like in any walk of life, but for the most part as long as you don't give them any sh1t and treat them like a human being they will treat you the same. You did everything right: indicated, did a life-saver, pulled over as soon as was safe (all showing you're a sensible rider), didn't give him any grief and were honest with him. He was doing you a favour, employing a common sense approach and probably had video evidence to do you over 100 if he'd wanted, with you facing a ban and possible jail time (if he'd clocked you any where near 160 ). |

Yup, Couldn't agree more.
I was riding alot more sensible than usual anyway because I had Dam_Buster on the back.
But yea, He was a fairly sound copper.
His words before he left us to it were:
"I'm not here to do people for over 70mph. I'm not here to do people for over 80mph or even 90mph. But when you are going well over the 100mph mark, Then it's my point of call to pull you over, I dont want to be scraping you off the road if you come off. Slow down a bit, And enjoy the rest of your journey."
Couldn't really ask for fairer. Well, You could! He could of let me off with a slap on the wrist.
