When I'm out scooting about, I have noticed that I am far more confident, smooth and able to negotiate left hand corners. I am actually trying now to add speed to my left hand corners.
But on a right hander I almost panic and feel very awkward, with my corner line looking like a series of straight lines with 20 corners between.. I don't know why this is? Perhaps due to poor throttle control brought on by the pressure on my right hand due to countersteer?

Btw chicken strips appear to be the same size on both side of the rear.

Quite the opposite. I'm far more confident on right handers since I'm able to sit pretty much in the gutter on the corner entry, ready to chase the vanishing point and put the throttle on. On left-handers, it exposes me to oncoming traffic, but i've trained myself to position myself towards the middle of the road for left handers and to only turn when i can see the vanishing point.

Rule of thumb, turn late if you can. Turning to early may cause you to run wide on the exit.

On my scooter and 125 I preferred left hand corners, now on my hornet I much prefer right hand corners... Although that could be because I often have a nice little bit of oil on my left hand side tyre from the scottoiler. Doesn't bother me to much, and I don't get that shitting yourself feeling you say you get with right handers.

It's the camber of the road.

Most roads (but not all) are high in the middle and fall towards the edges to let the water drain off to the gulleys/ditches.

When you go round a left hand bend you are going with the camber so it feels more natural. When you go round a right hander you are against the camber so your tyre is actually leaning more in comparison to the road surface.

Motorways and fast A roads will sometimes have the whole road falling from one side all the way to the other (super elevation) so you can corner more safely at speed.

Pop over to france and try it the other way round by driving on the right hand side of the road and see if you notice the difference.

Road camber explains some of this.
The middle of the road is usually a few inches higher than the edge so water runs to the side.
So it actually helps you slightly turning left but means you're effectively further from 90 degrees on right handers

I actually much much prefer right handers. So much more confidence dropping into a right hand turn at any speed and find mid corner corrections/adjustments much easier to the right. Left handers are getting better but never feel 100% confident on them. Also, on leftys, once Ive picked a line i find it difficult to make any mid corner adjusments which can sometimes leave me in an 'Oh FUk' situation if ive gone in a bit too hot.
It seems most people favour one side over the other.
After a good hoon i have no visible chicken strips on the right of the rear tyre but a good 5mm on the left. Not a worry though, it doesnt significantly slow me down, but its also good to have a flaw you can work on. Keeps you from becoming too confident and thinking your an awesome rider. Which only helps to keep you alive in the long run! Laughing

Right-handers always feel best for me. Checking the strips I've about 5mm on the right but 15+ in the left. I guess it's from roundabouts and also from the borked leg. I can haul myself back upright (with my knee on the tank) easily with the left leg but not with my weakened/titanium re-enforced right... Smile

Right handers for me too. No idea why. Almost got my first knee-down of the year on a right-hander on Saturday, but it ended up being a toe-down instead Sad
